One of the MOST important "Need to Knows" when considering a bass boat is "How Many Gallons Is The Livewell?". Wish you made that a part of your rundowns. A great boat with a 20 gallon livewell ain't worth a chit.

Well I'm gonna put my 2cents in. I wouldn't buy any boat right now not with the inflation as high as it is. When you look at the prices for anything they want $4K for Lowrance trolling motors and $2,800 for minn Kota. So start adding stuff up. $80K for glass or aluminum is way out in left field. Don't get me started on Hummingbird and Garmins way over priced. I picked up a used 1995 Champuon this past spring for $7k. Long storie short it was worth it. Only an 18 but still not bad. Don't need a $80 to $120K boat.

Exactly! In 2020 when all the checks showing up in mail, from thin air, I seen many going on a spending spree. I traded my worthless notes for ammo and 3 years later I’m still driving my truck that has 344,000 miles and a 22 yr old TR-20 But I don’t make half a mill a year either.

I don’t know anything about Avid, but why do some people think an aluminum boat should cost less than a fiberglass boat? Aluminum is an expensive material these days and the construction is labor intensive. Labor is expensive these days also. Also, some of the aluminum boat brands are kicking out higher quality builds (i.e. better boats) than some fiberglass brands. So to say “I can buy a fiberglass boat for that”, is like saying I can buy a fiberglass piece of sh#t for that in a lot of cases.

Ok…bought the 20XB from Bucks Island Marine in Alabama 2021 with 200SHO, 2 Hummingbirds, Minn Kota Spot Lock 80lb thrust and a set of Raptors, 3 batteries and a Minn Kota 3 bank charger. Hot foot, Jack plater and custom trailer. Out the door , $57,000.00. Pros…performs great, fast, handles, good in rough water, turns tight, easy to clean no problems boat or trailer. Conns: Avid will not respond to dealer warranty request. Issue one…paint bubble in counsel, discovered when I arrived home. Reporter immediately with photos. 2 years still NAFT from Avid. New issue, clear coat peel, called Bucks Island and told them I wouldn’t buy a 21xb because Avid will not honor the simplest warranty issue, what happens if something serious arises. Now as for Nitro…best pal is on his 2nd in 4 years. Has to be the biggest POS on the water today, between the Merc, the boat and the trailer…my God help that man.

I ordered an 819 pro from Phoenix with just an 80# ultrex and a 200 merc and nothing else and it was 49k I know it’s not a 21’ boat with a 250 but the staring price is ridiculous for that avid

I looked at one in Hot Springs Arkansas...the only thing I didn't like...when you walked on the front deck...the main lids flexed...I'm 5'8" and 180lbs....not paying that money for rod locker lids that bow when walked on

Fair assessment. Too many horror stories and some customer service issues to validate that Avid tin price. That’s our view point. Also these older videos are starting to warp some people’s perspectives a bit. 100k is going to be the industry standard for a fully rigged 21ft glass rig. We don’t agree with it one bit but we also don’t set the prices

Yeah their website is pretty lackluster turned me off immediately. Way to much for tin IMO. I did a charger build when I was shopping for a new boat, they never called or quoted my request for over 6 months so I bought a Falcon instead, then one of their pros got all butt hurt when I called charger out on instagram 😂… companies that don’t interact with customers making one of the largest purchases of their life outside of a house apparently don’t care about sales. We all know the apprehension of a new boat purchase and the excitement that it’ll be all we hope for! customer interaction makes the sale!

I run an aluminum (crestliner) and think that the bigger issue with most of the aluminum boats is hull design. Most are not nearly as deep nor well shaped as the glass boats and that translates into a rougher and slower ride. If money is not an object go with a glass boat or a lund pro-v bass.

@@calebwelch6762 yeah that's an issue for sure, if aluminum boat manufacturers would use a bladder press to shape their hulls it would be a huge improvement. You could essentially shape it just like a glass boat. We've been shaping aircraft parts that way for years. Molds would be expensive initially but the product would be great

Way too much money for a Vexus rebranded as an Avid. Xpress X21 Pro be a better option. 85k I think I’d go for a Bass Cat. Glad I bought my Legend when I did. V20 dealer demo for 66k out the door AFTER I added 5k worth of extras.

For that I'll go get an AlumaGator (Gator Jet Boats) or a Delta Jet. Yea there a jet boat but at least I'll still be able to run the "cricks" around me when I'm not on the big waters. 20/21 ft with a Chevy big block, at least it'll sound better than a merc and actually run. ROFL. The 6.2 runs mid 80-90s. And if I get bored I can add power.

Does the fancy glitter coat help a fiberglass boat catch more fish? I feel like there is a cognitive bias that causes us to assume that every aluminum boat is just a glorified, really expensive, old row boat. What am I missing?

I kinda thought the same thing and that's why I bought a tin rig.. turns out that was a big mistake. Lighter makes it stupidly more difficult to contain boat control. The wind just blows you all over the place a lot more than in a heavier glass boat. Another thing is how much louder an aluminum boat is compared to glass. Trying to fish stealthy with a little breeze is impossible. I've also had welds break and screws constantly backing out even with lock tight. Aluminum simply doesn't perform the same as a glass boat on the water.. and glass boats do look better.. now the only benefit to aluminum when compared to glass is the fact that you can fix and repair a hole a lot easier and faster than fiberglass. I currently own a Lowe stinger 188.. it looks nice and fish's nice with the wide deck. Granted it isn't an avid but mine brand new was 30k with a 115 pro xs and to me looking back I wouldn't pay 20k if I had to do it again. Currently looking to get into 2015 and older basscat. I'll never do aluminum again. This is just my opinion and experience.

@@drdoutdoors1603 Since I was a kid a pretty fiberglass boat was always my goal, but I think part of the reason was because tin boats were always built to a price point while fiberglass boats were built for tournament fishing. Bass Trackers are notoriously underpowered and cheap, but they sell a ton of them and it seemed every other aluminum boat tried to compete with them. Now that there are companies building aluminum boats that can handle 250s, I'm not sure fiberglass is best. I do hear what you are saying about the weight issue, but your hull design may have as much to do with you blowing around as the weight. I'd also be curious to see the difference in build quality between your Lowe and some of these $80k aluminum boats. I'm not saying they are better, but I'd hope so.

Well I just looked at one a new 2023 X21 starting price was $67K only came with 200 on it. So that's $3K above the Avid.

Try a dealer, "sellers market" they'll say. You're looking at 68+k for a X19 right now. The msrp of the base h18 bass was 26k, with a 115 sho, when they first dropped. Price one at the dealer now :) I'm going to stick with glass, for what they want for the tin boats now.

@@brushymountain1 I been at marinas and no one here has any left over 2022. They are all 2023 what they have in stock not many either. All prices have gone up about $10K in 2 years. I was at a marina that sells Bass Tracker and price on a tracker classic with a 20hp was $20K put a 50hp it would be around $24K. That boat was just $10K a few years ago. All prices on boats have gone up since the inflation. The market on boats jumps about $3k per a quarter. The Xpress I was talking about was fully loaded but only had a 200Hp on it.

People overpaying for everything including boats are going to be way upside down..... Or hyper inflation is going to continue, and price most people out of the game. I'm kicking myself daily, because in 2018, I could have bought a new 2017 leftover X19 with a 175 and seadek for 33k otd. I wasn't sure I wanted to go aluminum, so I balked

@@brushymountain1 Well I just talked to a dealer in my state and was going over Xpress boats. I found out a heck of a lot talking for over hour on the phone . Right now I could get a x21 bass boat loaded to the max 2 10" graph at console and 2 12" graph at bow power poles and all with a Yamaha 250 all out for $92K. Now there is different packages you can go for. They can range from $80K to high as $105K. That's the aluminum boat but a B.A.S.S. RIG. now idk who can afford a boat that high. I also know that a Vexus 2023 fully rigged is around $120K. I will stick to my $10K boats. We all know this will hurt our economy and it will get worst be for it gets better. It will take a few years before it turns around. I won't put no boat company down but spending $80K to $120K for a boat is ridiculous. No matter for aluminum or Glass. That's a house or a mortgage.
