This came at the right time as a review, as it turns out I needed to use my grips this morning - I have a pair of cheap WOD Nation ones I got off amazon for like 15-20$. They have the dang finger holes and I haven't been using them a ton because that's super uncomfortable. So today I just wrapped 'em over the bar without using the finger holes like you suggested. YES! THAT is what I was expecting out of them! Haha. Moral of the story: get cheapish grips 1-2 sizes up, find someone with an overlock sewing machine, and just trim down the holes with a sturdy stitch line so it doesn't fray. Profit! (And also you don't have the drawbacks of the Alex Smith ones being slippery, although maybe with a bit less wrist support).

Hi Richey! We're cheaper just because we are the manufacturers. We have different fabrics, in case you want to test them, just send us a DM on Instagram ;)

I personally found the material of the Alec Smith grips way too thick, i struggled to get a good feel of the bar and felt my grip being compromised. I now have RooGrips and find them loads better 👌🏻

The Victory Grips , Stealth Fingerless and 4 Finger are the grips i love. TeamRichey give them a go, quite a few games athletes were using them at the games for the snatch , bar muscle up workout.

Totally agree with you about grips. It's completely up to the individual. I have tried heaps of grips since starting CrossFit. All have their pros and cons, but for me the Alec Smith grips are definitely worth the money as far as I'm concerned. I have been using them for the last few months or so and don't intend on switching up any time soon.

Bear Complex grips are not flimsy by the way for people that may be interested. I would consider the Alec Smith grips flimsy as they just flop over if they're not being held up. Bear complex is thinner and they stay upright a little and don't just flop over but the material is better i think. But its personal preferance.

I've RDX grips which look like Alec Smith grips (maybe a bit bigger) that have an awesome grip on every pull up bar i tried. they cost something like 20 euros on amazon. for my experience it protects my hands very well but as Craig saids for the Alec Smith grips, you really feel like you're holding something in your hand. Personnaly I love that grips and i think they are really not expensive for the quality

What size did you choose for the Alec Smith grips? I bought the Large size and they barely extend past my palm. I don't even have large hands. They're basically worthless the way they are because they don't cover any of my fingers at all so I can't get them to wrap over the bar.
@marielmaxted42876 жыл бұрын
On a similar note, I'd love to see you review the RAWW Barehand gloves. I have yet to see a quality review on KZbin. I saw Matt Fraser wearing them on the marathon row at the games and bought myself a pair. I'm not sold on them though and was wondering what other people think of them.

Are the Alec Smith grips available in the UK yet without paying silly money for delivery? I don't mind paying $50 dollars but an extra $50 delivery is a bit nuts. Why don't you become the UK distributer Craig once you've finished faffing around in Australia.

What knee pads are you using. I saw in one of your vids your knee pads and I need a pair for a shorter guy. The ones I have tried just seem too long on me. I need ones just to support the knee and not go all the way up too high!

Has anyone tried both the bulldog gear airbike and the Rogue Echo Bike? like the thought of the belt drive being a bit quieter but only ever tried an Assault airbike
@nathankm226 жыл бұрын
Yes, the Rogue Echo Bike is amazingly quieter than the assault bike. Highly recommend them. Quiet and smooth ride. The assault bikes have too many sensor issues which causes the screen to flash.

Hi guys love the videos keep up the great work. I'm going to go with the Alex Smiths but I was curious, I'm on the line with size. Looks like I am sitting at 4.25 and it appears that you have a lot of overhand on yours so would you say stick with the Medium which goes to 4.25 or go up because I do have small hands I'm 5'6" 160lbs, not a big dude but do not want a ton of overhang on the leather. Train hard!

Would u maybe consider doing an IN DEPTH review of the Nano 8’s? Havnt really seen many of those on KZbin. Never owned a Reebok Crossfit shoe; always just stuck to the Metcons, but I’m thinking about purchasing and would love to hear your in depth opinion! Great video BTW.
@chrisvanderwielen15306 жыл бұрын
I switched from the Metcon 2s to the Nano 8 and love them. My ankles are thin, and I had a hard time getting a snug fit in the Metcons, so the back of my foot kept slipping up and down in the shoe. I find the Nano 8s to be WAAY more snug of a fit, and they are very comfortable and light as well. The shell design also makes them cooler than the Metcons were. They aren't the best running shoe, but are miles ahead of the Nano 5s I had when I first started Crossfit, and a little more comfortable on runs > 200m than the Metcons were (anything 200m or less, and the shoes don't matter anyhow :\ ). Overall, most people in my gym prefer the Nano (or Nobull) shoes over the Nikes for WOD shoes, but still gravitate to Nike for lifters.
@troyh12536 жыл бұрын
Good to know! Probably will give them a shot
@Krokador6 жыл бұрын
Personal experience is that the Nanos (i have had the 4 and 8) have a wider toebox. In my case, the Nike shoes I tried have always been too narrow, so it never even was a contest. (Good luck doing burpees or box jumps with a few sizes up so your toes can fit and not clipping the dang box/ground) If you have wide toes you may feel the same.

Why use grips when you could improve your grips strongman style? That has helped me in crossfit tremendously
@Skiddins6 жыл бұрын
It's not just about grip strength, but preventing ripping your hands to shreds whilst you do certain movements :-)
@TeamRICHEY6 жыл бұрын
I mostly use grips for protecting my hands - Ripping your hands ain’t cool and has a big impact on training - I also do grip training along side normal (hangs, walks etc) to actually strengthen my grip
@wd76436 жыл бұрын
TeamRICHEY I use rice digging along with other marital arts techniques to make my hands build calluses all over and toughen the skin. Haven’t gotten any tears since. Also try changing up the diameter of the bar or shape for all your exercises like my pull ups, dips, rows, bench, hamstring swings, deadlift etc. Brian Alsruhe gave me this to so don't have to do extra grip training after.
@chrisvanderwielen15306 жыл бұрын
@@wd7643 When I tried changing the diameter of the bar at my Crossfit box, they threatened to call the cops. Something about showing up to class with a disc grinder and welder they didn't like... go figure.

Chris Vanderwielen Idk if your trying to be sarcastic or what but you can just use Fat Gripz/Axle bar adaptors. Just slap them on and the bar is instantly thicker...No disc grinder or welder needed
