Will you guys be doing Murph on 5/31? Your pull-ups & C2B's workout was very similar to our 'Murph-prep' workout at our box today, except we did hand-release push ups instead of hspu's, all while wearing a weighted vest.

For me, overhead squats are a nightmare even with an empty bar. I work on the positioning, but I know that I won't progress at all on them, at least in some years, because I need to address a lot of aspects before, specially my weak shoulders.
@clintiacuone1703
@clintiacuone1703 3 жыл бұрын
Man that’s such a bad mindset to have for your situation, your condemning yourself to fail at your goal already😅 go get assessed by someone who can tell you where you main mobility deficits are and start there, a lot of the time the mobility issues with the overhead squat are actually in the lower body and not upper
3 жыл бұрын
@@clintiacuone1703 Thanks for your reply. Yes, your are right. Although I try to be more positive, and I am conscious that what I say it is not positive at all. I try to be honest with myself tho, and I know that it will take time, maybe a little more than the normal, as I am just beginning at my 40 years all. I would really liked to start CrossFit at my 20 or early 30's! The good thing of all this period with closed gyms, any possibility to do CrossFit, and lockdowns, it is I took the opportunity to get a proper treatment for my shoulders (in fact I have a good hip mobility and my spine mobility have improved too, but my shoulders deficiencies make me to compensate a lot, and they get easily injured because of their unstable position added to the lack of strength to stabilize). As everything start to come to place, I hope to get strength, although it is a very slow process!! It is a question of patience tho. The day I can to do an overhead squat lifting my own weight I will be very happy.
@clintiacuone1703
@clintiacuone1703 3 жыл бұрын
@ doesn’t matter what age you are it all takes time for everyone🙂 stick with it though and make sure to enjoy it all at the same time, your shoulders aren’t hyper mobile by any chance are they? You got this though🙏
3 жыл бұрын
@@clintiacuone1703 the shoulder mobility has improved a lot since I started physiotherapy, but the rotator cuffs aren't ready yet. There are still important imbalances. Nevertheless, basic movements will be certainly OK. So I hope to start lifting barbells soon when the my box opens, maybe with less AMRAPs and more EMOMs in the program for the moment. A lot of basics and basics and basics should be the essential part. The weightlifting movements are very technical -I am better and more confident on gymnastics-, so I think this is the most important aspect to work at the beginning and it is usually in which I focus. It is easy to think on PB's specially in an environment where everyone smash PB's and reps by quantity, and also I like to do, because I have always been an active and competitive person. But as you say, it a question of time, trust in the process and patience. Specially now. Thanks again! 🙏

To answer your question about the weights. NO! I can't even get myself to lift a bar when the plates are the same weight but from a different manufacturer. I will search the entire gym for matching plates for an hour, before I'll attempt a lift with different looking weights.
