Slifer is already on Field, so no matter what even if opponent summons a mandatory effect, Slifer is always chain link 1.

To answer your question: only if you're playing Poker Knights (Ra and Obelisk are kinda scuffed tho, but Slifer and Sphere are pretty good; they all 4 work still). But yeah, Ra and Sphere are kinda decent again now due to Kings Court.

Slifer can only lower attack and destroy if the opponents monster is summoned in attack mode so it doesnt really do anything besides his link monsters and his normal summon

A lot of Yu-Gi-Oh players are sadly like this, can't really have fun like casuals. Still, it was funny when he was like "I hope you mill your Red-Eyes cards" because Sam thought his curious Mill variant with scraps is revolutionary. The salty handshake was pretty funny though, banther always existed in Yu-Gi-Oh , if you go back to Sam's previous videos with Jesse, it exists there too. It would have been legendary if the Gods won twice against Jesse.

For the chain links for slyfer is use turn playet prio. So drytrons have on summon effects from my knowledge that will be chain link 1 since you are at priority since it's your turn and slyfer is chain link 2. I am not 100% sure on this so don't take my word too serious. But in my understanding that's how I see the scenario.

Sam's god deck is pretty much Brick turbo,his standard combo was like 5 different garnets and counting. At this point he could have just played the pure slime variant. It might be bad,but hey,it actually plays most of the time.

Yugioh now is basically trying to get full combo and disrupting your opponent from getting their full combo with hand traps and whoever can put up a more overwhelming board first typically wins. Loser scoops before LP even hit zero.
