I know this is old but I wanted to make a server so I could use Task Force Radio (A communication mod for a game I play) and EVERY other tutorial, no matter how new, did not go into depth nearly as much as this one did. I'm stuck in that phase with "telnet WAN ... 9987" etc because no port is working. Everytime it says "could not open connection to the host on port" 9987 or 10011 or 30033... and i get no blinking cursor at 30033, i only get could not open etc. I am sure i have followed the steps on portforward but i haven't done that with firewall rules, cause i don't have that option... can anyone tell me the problem, please?

Ive had the same problem, ad this might apply to you. If your computer has Hamchi on it, the server might be trying to connect to it. Thats the problem I had. If you have further questions ask me.

try uninstalling redownloading and make sure when u open teamspeak server where it has server admin and password if the server token is blank then u will get the same request option as before. Hope this helps.

Flibbers MC yeah ive tried that, aswell as deleting all the ports and adding them again. but nothing, tbh with you i just think its not sending to my ip adress and i dont know what to do about it, for now i have deleted everything including ts3 server and gone back to using skype

Love the tutorial, it is very clear and everybody can do this. I figured this all out but after a few days the server didn't work anymore. Turns out I needed to activate DHCP in my router. Now it works again without problems.

Thank you for the tutorial, it is great and helped me out significantly. I followed your instructions, however, failed to telnet into my WAN IP. I actually had to allow the teamspeak server access through the windows firewall through the control panel as well. I was then able to successfully telnet into the teamspeak server on port 10011. Just wanted to put this here if anyone else faces the same issue. It might be router specific as well (I am using a TPLink Deco M9).

Hello, I did the whole tutorial and I still can't connect with the telnet test. I used the website portforward and my router was actually there so it was easy. I had to take a static IP though. Thought it was maybe my ESET firewall but no, turned it off and still thesame. Is there anything else I could be forgetting or doing wrong?

I Found A Easy Easy Way To Do It, Download The teamspeak Server Thing & then do that stuff (but do not port forward or anything) just go cmd & type ipconfig get your ipv4 thing & past it in to teamspeak :) (send your ipv4 to friends also)

@AceCrossFire I found some screenshots. It looks like once you log in you go to "Nat" in the menu on the right. There is then a sub-menu named "Port Forwarding". Just put in your IP and put the same port number in both fields in the port range, this will exclude just that single address instead of a range. That should do it. If not let me know.

A Teamspeak 3 Server with Hamachi also works without Port Forwarding. A Teamspeak 3 Server where the UDP, and TCP port is forwarded, there can you normally connect with your Static IP Adress. Best Regards, Chris

I got it, make sure 1. Right click the shortcut "Teamspeak Server" 2. "Compatibility" tab 3. Check the box "Run this program as Administrator" 4. Click "Ok"

You could manually choose which port you want to use.... for instance you could use something like 4045 then you have to setup the teamspek server to use that port and then just forward the port on the router. Notice that the teamspeak server doesn't connect manually when useing another port on the wan ip adress when not useing the default port, you then have to type the wan ip and port seperated by a colon so it would be Wan ip:port

Are you getting this message when you try to connect with the TeamSpeak Client, or with telnet? Can you try to connect with the TeamSpeak Client on the same computer that is running the TeamSpeak Server? Try to use both the IP address for the server and then use "localhost". If those both work the TeamSpeak server is setup correctly. If you can't connect from the outside of your home network with the external IP address, then there is an issue with Port Forwarding on your router.

@derincanazizof Try turning off the Windows Firewall and see if you can connect, maybe it is blocking the connection. Does it fail just when trying to connect to your external IP address, or does it also fail to connect when you use localhost instead of the IP?

+Mitchell Felske Call your ISP provider and make sure your cable modem is acting like a pass-through (not a router). A lot of cable modem's are defaulted to act as a router, so all rules you set up on your router get overridden by your cable modem. Again, call your ISP provider and tell them you want your cable modem to act as a pass-through (not router).

Have you tried connecting with the client from your server machine to itself using localhost instead of the IP address? Let me know what you can, and i'll do my best to help you out.

I ran my server yesterday, but decided not to do the steps on startup. So when my computer rebooted, I had to change the wan ip setup to forward them... then run them through cmd again. The problem I'm having is that, I can't find my server name on the server list. I didn't have this problem the first time ran my server.

@derincanazizof Does it give any sort of error message? Telnet might still need to be installed. Make sure you have Telnet installed in the Windows programs and features. It might be easier to go to canyouseeme(dot)org or another website that will check what ports you have open.

You have to follow all that the portforwarding website tells you because mine told me to make my IP dynamic at the beggining and type it into a text box then in the below instructions showed me the IP to give it.
