How can things be sterile when you don't wear masks, gloves for everything. Like folding sterile gowns, packs and drapes? I don't understand how these things can be called sterile.

I actually just got a job as an SPT and I have watched a couple of YT videos and asked myself that same question. When I start orientation, I'll ask and see what the answer is.

S J After the instrument sets are packed they go into the autoclave to get sterilised. The techs after that only handle them closed and ready to transport to the OR.

The starting rate is 15 to 16 an hour

The sets during prep & packaging stage are thermal disinfected therefore instrumentations can be handled manually, not needing masks too. After setting, preparing the instrumentation for steam or hydrogen plasma, sterilization starts. All microorganisms including SPORES are killed during this process.
