In the local meeting with company officials, their "One Yellow Plan", would have forced me into a 30% pay decrease. Are there any other company drivers in the LTL industry looking at a mandated 30% pay decrease? When I questioned the company, the spokesman said, and I quote, "Linehaul drivers are free to quit", unquote. When Yellow ceased operations, I took my pristine attendance and driving records and got a different job in 10 days. The rule changes Yellow imposed on us caused our customers to start leaving two years ago. Our service went from next day to maybe next week. Freight would sit in trailers for days.

Good for you! YRC was mismanaged for years and run into the ground by complete and total morons! Who else in the work would give back so much in concessions to poorly run company? No one very sad that it had to come to this but “Dumbass Hawkins” is the root cause of this! Executives are greedy and don’t care about no one but themselves period! Bottom line is yellow folded cuz they were run into the ground by incompetence! I feel bad for the dockworkers and drivers that were affected by this crap! So now ABF, T-Force account executives go after that business and buy this equipment and hire the skilled work force! But true freight sat for days and was not processed because management was not doing their jobs!

The union gave a ton of concessions and they’re to blame? SMFH because this stuff is for intelligent, educated people… let them figure it out

I blame O'Brien he didn' t care about Yellow. He said let them go out of business. He didn't let the members vote on it and wanted to play the tough guy. You can play hardball with UPS because they only had FedEX as competition Yellow had 6 other companies to deal with. Why didn't the union demand a through management overhaul before it got this bad. Anyways it happened on his watch 22,000 truckers have to start over including me after 25 years.

UPS and ABF contracts were expiring, and that is why they were negotiating with them. Yellow waited till the teamsters were hot and heavy in those negotiations to start using dirty tactics. They still had a year on their contract with 1 more small raise. Yellow decided not to pay the health care for 1 month even though they had over $100 mil in the bank. They even went so far to say, " Not only are we not going to pay this month, but we are not going to pay the next month." The union threatened to strike. The union conceded, gave in, and did not strike. The company told its employees that they would get $11/hr raise, but the union wouldn't accept. How can you afford $11 when 60cts is too much. Alot of dirty tactics by Yellow and Apollo. They mismanaged and squandered away alot of money. The government should make arrests and get taxpayers money back.

Utter nonsense. The trucking industry has been deregulated since the early 1980s which allowed companies like yellow to create new lanes, acquire other LTL companies and brokers without any oversight, allowed LTL companies to use ICs and not count them under there bottom line so they can shift the burden with pay, benefits however they want to tell them when and how to do there job with oversight.

Workers took a %15 paycut in 2009. The company said they’d make the employees whole soon. Instead they reduce pension contributions and 401k contributions to only %25 of what they were giving. On top of that the employees (both union and non union) took a 3 year pay freeze. Shortly after the company got the %15 pay cut, the corporate officers gave themselves a 30 million dollar bonus. In the meantime the yellow employees have fallen behind significantly in wages compared to their non union competition. Yellow was mismanaged. The workers were still %15 behind in pay when they closed.

Ironic that this union guy keeps banging his talking point “easier to blame somebody else” is blaming somebody else. “At the end of the day” there are 30,000 newly-unemployed people and he is partly responsible.

Teamsters is a large union and always the expert in trucking ops so why doesn't it own and operate some trucking businesses? Not a good investment for members?

Why would any serious person ever have a backdrop of “implied filled to capacity” Boston at his/her back? I’ve wondered for 22 years 11 months and a day. It’s impossible for many now to take stories seriously when cloudy days in Boston show reality above the first floor.

And another thing the Teamsters job is to protect the members and jobs and they failed miserably. But O'Brien says its not his fault. With leadership like that no wonder truckers don't want to join the union.

@@draperscott7698 We know. Without the union it would be “at will” employment. Take it or leave it, if you don’t like it, work someplace else. Instead, it’s Teamsters strong arming for what they want. In my opinion, overpaid.

Yellow was in the process of becoming a unified more efficient company since 2019 and they were about to complete that process in 2022. What happened? A change in leadership at the Teamsters with egocentric Sean O’Brien becoming president. Sean O’Brien did not let employees vote for or against this initiative called “One Yellow” so they could decide their own fate. Instead the Teamsters and Sean O’Brien played games demanding too much and threatening strikes to seal the fate of Yellows bankruptcy. To any employees at Yellow too blind to see what really happened, I pity you.

He better continue to focus on getting cab drivers and hotels workers to unionize because they will not get another trucking carrier unionized, too weak. I paid 32 years of dues, and I'm embarrassed on how the teamster leadership handled this. Pitiful. RIP Hoffa sr.
