Here's some tips I'd add: 1. Unless you are insanely mature for the age, do not join straight out of high school at 18. Get a job of any kind and spend a year there. Learn how to take an order no matter how dumb it is from a jerk. Get in the habit of arriving at said job 10-15 minutes prior. It's much better to develop these habits before you join because the military will make you learn the hard way. 2. Even if you are "sure" you are making a career out of this barring injury, have an exit plan anyway. I know so many service members who are sold on a 20 year career only to count down the days their one contract ends because they got burned out by their first duty station. 3. Don't fall for the whole "don't judge the military by your first unit" schtick your drills tell you. It's all military gaslighting. If you are unhappy at your first duty station, you have to consider your next one could be even worse and that's a dice roll I personally am not making. 4. If you have a question about something, ask three different people and make sure the answers all line up. The military has a problem with low quality NCOs that don't know what they're doing.
@TEAMSWARTZ Жыл бұрын
1- You can gain that experience on the civilian side or the military. One has to go through that regardless but maturity def helps. 2- Always work on multiple streams of income for sure. I always advocate for combat support so at least you have tangible work experience and training towards a civilian career when exiting the military. 3- Yes, I still agree with that statement of don’t judge your first unit. Most people who leave any company or job is due to management or leadership for sure. So it could be better at the next location. Eventually you’ll be that leader that can change for the better and care for your soldiers. Be the leader you didn’t have. 4- That’s solid advice but still take it with a grain of salt. You don’t know their work ethic, attitude, effort, etc… That’s their experience under their circumstances, not yours. Thank you so very much for watching this video and I hope you stay blessed! 🇺🇸🙏🏼

I dont know how I ended up on this video, I'm already in the military and I didnt even join the army, but respect for being honest and encouraging people to do their own research and make sure they're doing this for the right reasons. I'm in the preppy branch the Air Force and I see too many people who are miserable with their decision to join, it doesn't do any good for the military to have to take care of someone who's unmotivated and shouldn't have joined in the first place. If you join for the right reasons you are going to love it, I know I do.

So far the most helpful for anyone joining the army is Here's The Drill as he breaks down lots of little aspects about the army career that often aren't covered in other channels like paperwork and just general tips in how to succeed in short easy to understand videos. His channel really does tell you how you need to prepare for various aspects of your career in the army almost from start to finish. Matt Ward's Channel is very good too, and of course this channel. I sure wish I had this information back when I tried to join the military back in 1996, I might have had a better chance of succeeding if I did.

One thing I would like to point out is if you are interested in the national guard vs the reserves. Remember to look at your state for the national guard and what percent of college tuition will be paid. When my son enlisted he got on average about 37 percent of his tuition paid for in the national guard. This is because our governor didn’t allow 100 percent like other states. Also when he returned from boot camp and school he really wished he had gone full time active. They had a waiting list 3 years deep. To go from the national guard to active duty. Keep that in mind as well. He enlisted in 2012 and was done in 2018. It maybe different transferring from the nation guard to active now idk.

That’s what happened to me, I was promised a bonus and a school loan repayment, which at the end my recruiter never submitted the forms, and told me that he was gonna take care of it but never did. But I’m happy I’m not the only dumb, in my unit there are a dozen of people who didn’t get their bonuses and school loans repaid and are serving for free in the reserves just like me. That is why there has been a new motivation on the Army value “selfless service” more than anything else and that’s because there is not money.

Just don’t enlist, there’s a huge retention problem and a lot of soldiers are unhappy due to things like Divorce, Command Climate, training a lot, op tempo, hazing, alcoholism, debt, not being able to choose leave days, a lack of information in general, etc. You don’t get paid much, you don’t get to decide things for yourself, you don’t get to see your friends or family, you don’t get to talk back, you don’t get to do what you thought you’d be doing (common). There’s a lot more that I could talk about and there’s a reason why there’s a retention problem in the Army.

I always see military videos speaking about all the benefits of joining and all the good stuff. How about showing us all the b.S that a soldier has to deal with on a daily basis. And how soldiers are actually treated. I’m currently in the military. I see grown men being treated like a child just because they got no rank. We had some high schoolers come on post to check things out. My chain of command had me lie to them and make everything seem cool and make it seem like joining the army is the best decision. They even had a few sgts there making sure nobody told them the truth of how things really are. Otherwise they wouldn’t have wanted to join. If you are thinking of joining the military get advice from someone who served before that isn’t a recruiter. All a recruiters job to do is make people want to join even if it requires them to lie to you
@TEAMSWARTZ Жыл бұрын
That’s an unfortunate circumstance and that’s not the norm but it def happens. As in your case for example. It’s funny, straight from the police academy the officer as the legal rights to enforce the law unsupervised but in the Army we treat people with doubt and as if we don’t trust them or treated like they’re dumb for some reason. It’s backwards and should be changed in that mindset…
@thewrenchmaster122 Жыл бұрын
I’ve been in 3 years and I can’t wait to get out. It’s not worth being away from your family and all the b.s you have to deal with on a daily basis. If youre trying to do the cool stuff, sign for special forces before going to Basic (trying to go to SF after getting to your unit is difficult to impossible). My recruiter is actually kinda useless. I know what I want my MOS for and I’m doing my own research for it, but he said he’d send me my PiCAT last night and never did, so I had to take off work today to get there early to take it before MEPS. He also didn’t tell me anything about meps other than I go to a hotel (so I googled packing lists and other things like that), and now I’m chilling in my hotel, but he never called them before to put me on the hotel list for the night so I had to wait a while for that.. he also said he’d call me to work on my packet a little more or something before my verification test... which is tomorrow morning. One of his other recruiters drove me to MEPS, gave me the PiCAT, and processed my papers. I’m just hoping when I go to MEPS in the morning they actually have my name on that list. Really disappointed with him so far, but I spoke to other recruiters and I wanted to get started

I would like to add if I may that if you decide to join, be sure to be physically prepare for boot camp? Like getting in shape before you suffer there, I've seen it in the USMC boot camp where couple of guys who's just gasping to get by. Don't rush it, take your time and prepare physically and mentally while do some soul-searching if this is what you want to do ? Who knows maybe some better opportunity might pass by, and it's okay to change your mind though 😊. The Military will always be there, but your life is not because once you sign that contract, there's no going back

The primary reason woman do not belong in combat units , that no one will discuss for fear of EO complaint, is that combat units require the highest level of teamwork and cohesiveness attainable. However , when males and females are mixed , romantic relationships inevitably blossom, thus critically eroding this all - important unit teamwork and cohesiveness.

Start doing them randomly throughout the day. Instead of busting out 10 or so and calling it good (what I did for a while lol) start with something like 5 in the morning, 5 in the afternoon, 5 in the evening, and if you got it in you, 5 before bed. You'll have done 20 Pushups by the end of the day without much strain in the short term. And as time passes increase that number gradually. From 5 to 7, 7 to 10, 10 to 15, etc.

Is it feasible for healthcare professionals serving in the Canadian Armed Forces to join the U.S. military after obtaining a green card through the DV lottery or any other means? I have faced challenges in obtaining a green card, leading me to just give up and just enlist in the Canadian Armed Forces as a healthcare worker. However, it seems unlikely that I will be able to obtain a green card through traditional channels. My family in the United States is unable to provide significant assistance, and the i130 process could take up to 10 years due to the lack of immediate relatives. Furthermore, my grandmother had to give up her green card due to her battle with cancer, which required extensive treatment. On the other hand, my remaining aunt, along with her spouse and children, are U.S. citizens.
