Hi, not sure if this is the fix for your problem, but I had a similar issue where about 50% of my nails were very weakly fired and stuck up 1/4" to 1/2" out of the wood. I got to the disassembly step as seen at 1:52 in this video. From there I reached into the cylinder and grabbed some of the extra grease to rub it thoroughly around the inside of the cylinder all the up to the cylinder lip (it had no grease in that area). Now when the back goes back onto the cylinder, the o-ring on the back is properly greased and sealed onto the cylinder. I tested the gun after this and all 20 nails I tested fired with full strength. Hope this helps you too!

@@okstuv ok cool i will try it. I have some heavy duty grease meant for hydraulic demolition hammers. Or you think that would be too thick ? I got nothing to lose at this point . i tried pulling off some cap and adjusting some screw did nothing any adjustment i make does nothing doesnt matter the material i shoot through it just barely shoots them.
@okstuv3 жыл бұрын
@@lring1559 you may find plenty of grease on the piston (not cylinder where you should spread it) once you take the cap off. It's like engine assembly grease, so thick grease should be fine ..

@@okstuv yeah i took it apart and because there was oil and the gasket looked wet i never closely inspected it . turns out theres a small tear and the inside is actually kinda dryed up and doesnt seal very well. I put some grease in worked good for like 5 nails then left one high so took it apart and packed it in there. Now it slams em deep haha had to dial it all the way back. Someone gave it to me for free. I think they used to thin an oil from factory it blows out the cylinder then the seal drys up and cracks. He only shot 50 or so nails then it sat in a closet for 2 years. Ive read 100s of posts from people with same problem. Thanks again.

you didn't take apart the pistons and cylinder, why not? this gun has a wide spread problem associated with the seal/lubrication of the piston assembly

I did a home remodel, I'm not a carpenter, and went through 2 Rigid brad nailers. First one lasted a week, second one about a year or 1/2 box of nails in my use. Never again will you see the name Rigid in my garage.

Liked the video, although I wish you'd opened the cylinder... I still don't feel like I understand what's happening inside, despite the "cylinder + piston" comment...

I viewed the video for the tear down of the Ryobi P320 where they disassembled the cylinder. Even though the Ryobi and the Ridgid are sister companies, it appears that the Ridgid units may operate the cylinders and pistons differently (there are two pistons & cylinders on the Ryobi). Since the main problem that these units have is with the O-ring lubrication, it would have been very helpful to understand how the compression mechanism works.
@acecabezon Жыл бұрын
@@jjustinengineer First I've heard of the O-ring issue -- is that something that the user can do something about?
@jjustinengineer Жыл бұрын
@@acecabezon Yes. You just need to lubricate the O-rings with a silicone lube - like Super Lube. There are many owners of these Ridgid and Ryobi nail guns that have brough them back to life. Unfortunately, this is the only tear down of a Ridgid that I could find - the others are all Ryobi.

hi , i know this is a random question... but the piston/drive assembly you remove from the back where power adjustment /cap is. has a seal on it.. the entire asy. is #27 on the pdf.. anyway, the seal is a common problem to have torn from i'm guessing the factory or after a couple uses... do you happen to know where to get just the seal? or a part number for the seal??? the entire assembly is 71$ not really worth buying to see if the seal (which im sure it is ) is the cause of 2" nails only getting driven 1-1/4"
@LegendMuscle4 жыл бұрын
or are you selling any of this that you have taken apart????
@larrymason8381 Жыл бұрын
If you are here because this expensive mail gun is leaving your nails sticking out, do this; Open the cylinder and put silicone grease in it. It will cure the issue. Be careful or you will be be reassembled the whole thing though. It’s best repaired until the parking lot of the hardware store as you will need many different bits to open everything 😅😅😅
