Loll after watching these types of videos, I'm confident that 70% to 80% of everyone's tile is installed incorrectly.

The problem is you will never find tile installers that agree on the correct way to do something. Nobody agrees with anybody. Plus tile companies trying to make things so complicated. Drains drive me crazy. All it is is water going down a hole, not rocket science.

Why the big fuss over not having full thinset coverage on walls? The tile held up for five years and would of held up longer if not for the prybar and hammer. Can someone explain.....thanks
@nick7057
@nick7057 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Ben In a shower you need to have something like 95-98% coverage of thinset between tile and substrate because of possible moisture penetration and possibly mold growth. Your grout and tile are not 100% impermeable to water, so if water does get back there it could grow mold as well as weaken your bedding material (thinset) that bonds the tiles. This what I have learned from my experience as well as what is recommend

So where was the water damage? Backer board and studs looked fine. Looked so pristine, that you could have left the side walls up and covered with sheet membrane.
@LandbergTileTV
@LandbergTileTV 3 жыл бұрын
No damage on the backer board and the client wasted money on a leak detection company. That's definitely a great idea wrapping with kerdi membrane if the backer is still in tact, but they paid for a full tear out and all Kerdi board. Client gets what the client wants.

@@LandbergTileTV Surely as a Professional contractor, isn't your job to point out to the client the fact that there wasn't any water damage after all and therefore the job can be completed at less cost to them. This is certainly something that I do as a professional tile fixer here in the UK. It also works the other way aswell, where a job throws up unforseen problems and the price goes up.

@@andrewtivey7492 There was no water damage therefore no cost to replace framing or joists. The new shower is far superior to the old shower and the client is very happy.

Wow just can't believe you protect the tub with just paper, being a tile professional you should know better. Can't imagine all the scratches and chips that will happen when tile falls on it. They have tub liners for a reason.. rookie mistake to say the least.. I didn't see any water damage, not to mention any back pitch on niche. I think the homeowner picked the cheapest bid she got and didn't like the way the tile looked and wanted someone else to blame, just my opinion. The original tile was not professional installed..

Been watching your videos for over a year. I do construction. Have done a few dozen showers. You’re probably the fastest I’ve ever seen someone do tile. Are you in California? Might be doing one of my restrooms soon. But your work is so much faster and cleaner than mine I’m not afraid to admit it.

@@LandbergTileTV You can really save $400 a month?? The math doesn't add up though.... If you drive 1000 miles a month. About 45 miles a day. Typical 30 minute commute. 22 mpg for the small van at $3.80 a gallon....That's $172 a month.
