Just finished it. Your prediction is 100% accurate. As a game, its a 7/10. I really don't understand why everyone is losing their mind over it. Its literally just botw, but losing all of your progress and it does not get better the more you play. I genuinely think I wasted my time playing totk, and seeing this makes me really hurt more on that 70 dollar price tag.

Honestly I'm surprised more people don't think BotW and TotK are mid. Fun? Sure but it's lacking so much stuff. Just like ya said I got me a physical copy and thoroughly enjoyed the game but that doesn't mean objectively it was a good game or at least lived up to the potential. At least it's not as much of a shit show as the new pokemon. However, when we have to say "at least it wasn't a dumpster fire" to justify a game not being bad it really says more about the industry as a whole. Tears of the kingdom feels more like a 40$ dlc then a full 70$ game. It uses the same engine, it plays almost identically and it also is on the same old hardware(and all the limitations that comes with it). The underground is cool but even with that I still wouldn't recommend the game to non zelda fans at 70$. I suppose I'm just sad because it's so obvious they could have done so much more and made a better game but they.... just didn't. I honestly have no idea why. They had the time, they have some of the best people in the industry but for whatever reason it's super lacking. Maybe I'm just too critical since it's a franchise I've been involved with since it's conception but it still makes me sad to see this apparent cash grab of squeal and just be sad.

I'm playing totk currently and having a great time. I do think the underground is kind of the biggest game changer in terms of scale but so far its a tad repetitive (but I still have a lot more to explore so those feelings might change) It doesn't feel like a dlc to me because they do seem to have added a lot, but I'm frequently finding myself skipping areas that I explored in botw because I can kind of already guess what I'm going to find there. I hope the story expands it enough to make up for any loss. I have a long way to go on it (so don't spoil anything lol) but I'm currently putting my review together as I go which I will be making that video once I beat the game.

@@Didmikedothis2023 I'm glad you're liking it so far, hopefully it'll leave a better impression on you than it did on me. The underground is definitely where all the budget went that's for sure and it was the most fun I had while playing.
