Tears of the Sun (2003) - Interrupting a Surgery to Extract the Doctor

In the midst of a war-torn region, Lieutenant A.K. Waters (Bruce Willis) and his elite team of Navy SEALs burst into a makeshift hospital to extract Dr. Lena Fiore Kendricks (Monica Bellucci). Caught mid-operation, the doctor is brusquely informed she must immediately evacuate as her life is in grave danger. However, Waters' orders only cover the extraction of foreign civilian nationals - not the refugees Dr. Kendricks has vowed to protect. Kendricks refuses to abandon the very people she has risked everything to save, setting up a moral dilemma that will push Waters and his team to their limits.

Tears of the Sun follows Lt. Waters and his SEAL team as they are tasked with a seemingly straightforward mission to rescue Dr. Kendricks, a U.S. citizen, from the jungles of Nigeria. However, once on the ground, they discover her secret work administering aid to refugees desperate to escape the merciless ethnic cleansing raging through the countryside. Defying orders to bring only Kendricks home, Waters agrees to escort the refugee convoy on a perilous journey through the hostile jungle to the Cameroonian border. As they navigate treacherous terrain and the crossfire of vicious militia forces, the soldiers must confront their own moral codes while doing whatever it takes to survive and protect the innocent civilians now under their charge.

I've been there several times. My sister lives in Milan. So I can say with confidence that I have never seen another Italian woman as beautiful as Monica. @@hssp1534 thanks for asking. A Corpsman is the Navy version of a medic. They provide all medical support to both the Navy and Marine Corps. SEAL Corpsman have some of the highest level combat medicine training of anyone in the armed forces.

@@hssp1534 not typically. You start receiving your basic medical training as soon as you’re done with bootcamp. From there you can go into a number of medical specialties including combat medicine.

This was one of my favorite movies. Great drama and story. Some of the best military actions I've seen. The actors did an enormous job with their training. Very realistic. Weapons and tactics were spot on. Fantastic results.
