Hi Prof. Yu! I am so glad to have come across your videos. You teach the concepts so well, and am making me feel much more confident about taking my exam. You are such a great person for putting this much effort into providing these free resources for students. Thank you so much!!

Hi Professor Yu, thank you so much! You are very helpful!!! Are you going to make a TEAS 6 vs 7 video for the endocrine system? or is it the same as TEAS 6? Thank You.

Thank you for your kind words! I really appreciate it! Good question. I'm currently working on the endocrine system and hopefully it will be posted this coming weekend 😊

Hi professor, one thing I'm confused about is I wrote down in my notes that the pituitary gland produces LH, which produces estrogen hormones, which are also in the ovaries. So if I get a question that asks "Where does estrogen come from" would the answer be pituitary gland or ovaries?

Good question. I'm afraid your notes need some modifications as they are not accurate: I would change "produces estrogen" to "stimulates or trigers the production of estrogen". LH triggers ovulation and production of sex hormones in the ovary. But the pituitary gland secretes LH only as a regulatory mechanism and not a direct production mechanism for estrogen. So if the question asks where estrogen is produced/comes from, the answer would be the ovary as it is THE organ that makes estrogen. If the questions asks about what organ regulates or stimulates estrogen production, then the answer would be pituitary via LH and FSH. I hope this helps and let me know if you have further questions :-)

I have a question! I have watched SEVERAL science teas prep videos and they all say oxytocin and ADH are secreted from the posterior pituitary, this is the first I am seeing that they both come from the hypothalamus. Can you please clear this up for me :)

Great question! Strictly speaking, oxytocin and ADH are MADE by the hypothalamus and stored in the posterior pituitary. When other teas prep videos say those hormones are secreted from the posterior pituitary, they mean that the pituitary "releases" the hormones and not actually produces the hormones. Or perhaps some people don't know that those hormones are actually produced by the hypothalamus even though they are stored and "secreted" (released) by the pituitary gland. Hope this helps :-)

@@professoryu5571 yes this helps tremendously!! That actually makes a lot of sense. And funny, after watching the video again, I noticed you did clarify that in a caption- but I had initially looked it over as an ad😂😭 Made in the hypothalamus, stored and secreted by posterior pituitary, got it! Thank you!!! ❤️

@@professoryu5571 ahhh Prof. Yu! This was on my teas!!! The question asked where ADH is synthesized, hypothalamus!! I knew this because of you🥰 pituitary wasn’t even an option, but penial was and I’m sure a lot of people probably picked that thinking pituitary 😰 I know I would have if I didn’t see your video! THANK YOU🥹

Hi, Professor Yu! I want to say thank you for teaching us Teas science to help us prepare for the exam. Also, I have a question. I was confused by the “higher volume” playlist because it seems like these videos are almost the same as the previous playlist. Could you explain the difference between these playlists? Also, does teas 7 cover oocyte maturation stages? Thank you!
@professoryu5571

You are very welcome and thank you for letting me know! That's right, the content is exactly the same between higher volume ones and the previous videos. The only difference is that I increased the volume in the editing app for the higher volume videos and hence "higher volume". But if you don't have trouble hearing me in the older version, then there's no need to watch the higher volume videos. I did not see oocyte maturation stages in either 6 or 7. So I'd say it's unlikely to be on the test. Hope this answered your questions :-)
