minimum 32:1 expecially hot summer days.. I would put the back wheels from the quad on the Atc to see if it gains mph with the taller tire. I have a 1984 1985 1986 atc and 1987 1988 quad all running. Only 1986 tecate 3 has broken plastics and stiched all others are mint

Look out my way in Pennsylvania for the atc things you need. Look on like market place. There are a lot of fourwheelers and atc parts online. Anyone will probably ship it to you. Or even if you are near Carlisle PA at anytime, if there is a car show, some vendors have atc and atv parts.

I raced a Tecate 3 in 85-86 then Tecate 4 in 87 88 89. Both were good machines but took lots of mods to be competitive. In 91 I seen red and went Honda TRX250r and never looked back. Honda racer and aftermarket support was far superior. Had the pleasure to compete against greats such as Gary Denton, Barry Hawk, Doug Gust, and Bill Balance. GOOD TIMES!!!

Looks like you have 18 inch rear tires so if you put stock 20 inch back on it might help with the top end speed though you might loose acceleration.

I totally remember the Tecate -3s when they were current. They were the ultimate. They had a separate motocross class for the three wheelers and Kawasaki dominated. Seems like they used small tires in the back to spin and drift though turns. That was the technique you had to use to keep it on the ground. I cannot even imagine how they felt to land the big jumps in a race. Obviously, it had to be al lot harder than a regular 250 motocross bike.

Three wheelers are super scary to jump. You have to be almost perfect or it's going to be a complete disaster when you land. The worst is going down super steep washed out hills on a three wheeler, talk about sketchy as fuck. I still have PTSD from the 200x I had back in the day.

@@mmaaddict78 …….yeah, those things were not meant for novice riders. You had to know how to keep a low center of gravity and lean hard in the turns, not oversteering. That (I think,) is why many of the early three wheelers were more like a go-cart. You sat down in them and they were very stable. A Tri-Sport all Sport with CCW engine is a good example. They at least felt fast because you were so close to the ground….😆

@@c.s.s.1723 Riding on hills killed it for me. Even on regular off camber type stuff it was so unstable that you were shitting your pants in places that a dirt bike had zero issues traversing. After a brief time on quads after the three wheeler debacle, I switched to dirt bikes and haven’t looked back. Good riddance trikes lol, I won’t miss them!

I absolutely love that quad. Wish I could find one but I've never even seen one in person so I doubt I'll be getting anytime soon. Can't wait to see the trike fixed up with all matching plastics. I had an 84 and a 85. They have ton of low end dirt flinging power. But thier alot of work to keep running, not impossible just a pain in the ass. Part of reason is how bad they vibrate. Wish I still had them.

You better be careful Holding It Wide Open is on these you did it will stretch the rod causing the Piston to hit the head and the shattering your piston and eventually throwing a rod probably I'm very very familiar with this cuz I had a 91 lt250r quadracer bought out of a box bunch of boxes and I put it together as a kid and I blowed mine up like 10 times because I didn't know to let out every so many seconds on a two-stroke

Bad Machine, My Brother David has a 85 ? Tecate 4 ,a 85 250 R, and a 83? 200 Big Red . The Tecate and 250 R Run Great . Big Red is not running, we got it that way. 😂 He was riding The Tecate ,just warming it up, WITH THE CHOKE ON , And you could hear it, then it opened Wide and ran away briefly , with The Choke Still On . Luckily he stopped Very Quickly at the edge of a 5 foot deep ditch in our yard. After The Left Front Wheel Fell Off 😲💩 . THESE TECATES ARE BAD TO THE BONE. KP1 makes around 53 HP , Really Awesome Power To Weight. THESE Things Will run with the Choke on , I never remember 2 stroke doing that , this Tecate Ain't For Amateurs . 😲 Even Really Good Riders Can Hurt On These Things. Like a lot of 2: Strokes . You don't 👀 a lot of these bikes . Awesome 👍👍
