Amazing stuff. I am actually very impressed by the gadget and what it can do. Will certainly get myself one of those very soon.

Didn't illustrate that "scrape" technique well at all. And that last bit about Guitar Tricks teaching "every popular song you can possibly think of" an unnecessary gross gross overstatement. Guitar Tricks is a worthwhile subscription learning service, especially for beginners. And it does a great job of teaching all the parts of the songs it covers--probably the best at that versus Jamplay, True Fire etc (I've had two years of subscription), but it's catalogue of songs is way far from "every pop tune you possibly imagine". Shame.

Yes, I subscribed for one year, but I couldn't find what I wanted to play and dropped my subscription. I have heard that the problem in adding new songs to the list is that Guitar Tricks has to get the author's permission and his/her exact notes, bar-by-bar. They won't just add "a" version that their teachers might make up. Take a detailed look at "Hotel California", for example. It's PERFECT, right off the record, and it's unbelievable that it's that good.

Yeah, I went for "Change the World" by Eric Clapton which I was trying to learn off of KZbin. The job on Guitar Tricks by Doug Showalter on that song covered every guitar part to the note (including the one electric guitar "shimmer". They did a great job with Hendrix "Wind Cries Mary" but got in trouble with the Hendrix estate for not getting a license arrangement. I think they are being punished for taking liberties as the Hendrix estate withdrew any permission or involvement. I'm kinda hard to please when it comes to pop and rock--for instance the only song they have by the Who is "Heat Wave". So, this contention that they have every pop song you could possibly think of is way out of proportion. Why even lie? They are good enough compared to competitors to be worth the money for a while.

Not true about Hendrix. Guitar Tricks didn't get into trouble at all. Quite the contrary. Hendrix licensed the songs for three years and negotiations for a renewal are ongoing. Songs have been withdrawn in the meantime. Not sure why you are spreading false rumors...

I would suggest that Guitar Tricks post a statement on exactly what happened. To have seen the tutorial on Wind Cries Mary in which much work went in just disappear implies that something was amiss with the licensing to profit from the song. Given that I have complimented Guitar Ticks work on how they cover songs in such detail I should get the benefit of the dount that I do not have a hostile agenda to "spread false rumors". I don't know my perception of what went wrong to be false. But there is no clear articulation to source as to what the issue is. I should think though whatever it is, if there was nothing amiss then the song should not have had to be pulled for over a year. Make sense? If everything was hunky dory, the issues should have been settled. Someone is not happy. And that would seem to be the Hendrix Estate. If you have knowledge, then state it without implying I'm knowingly trying to hurt Guitar Tricks. I'm not.
