would you be able to speak with the manufacturing company and maybe get us some sort of discount for your viewers? or from rev/amazon? Maybe endorsing one, might become another revenue for you. I believe its a lot to ask for but its worth a shot. This product looks fantastic but 699.99 if a pretty penny for some of us. Hell i was hurting after buying my sena dual pack for me and my wife. Considering for a moment that the new GoPro Hero 6 is $500, this thing is actually a pretty damn good deal for $700. You get a camera, mic, controller, and a freaking HUD. Trying to put all of those individually on a helmet would not only be bulky, but I would imagine it would be considerably more expensive too. I legitimately want one.
@jeffwang5437 жыл бұрын
I think that shows that GoPro is over priced more than showing how good of a deal the Nuviz is.
@taidynt35817 жыл бұрын
Yeah, you're right. The Cross Helmet launching in Sping 2019 seems to be huge and looks like it would cause a headache, but it does include everything the NuViz has plus a Rear View Camera

Oh yeah, the Cross Helmet will be featuring a Sena integrated Bluetooth device. The Price Tag is $1499 and you would have to wait a year.

@LexGrossmansDog6 жыл бұрын
GoPro 6 comparison to Nuviz is comparing a metal fork to a mixed box of plastic silverware. Let me explain. GoPro does one thing, shoot action videos/photos in different resolutions only. The metal fork. Sturdy, does it’s job well. The Nuviz, does a lot if things, but none of it well. GPS through your phone and only on crappy Nuviz app. Camera saves on phone, crappy resolution, videos 1080p only and must be downloaded from device, not waterproof, battery is only ok, must buy replacements. Nuviz doesn’t mount on all helmets (very limited), heavy, and if dropped, will break into a million pieces. All that for a piece of kit to show me mileage and an arrow with gps from their app? Don’t think so. Hence mixed box of plastic utensils. As I write this, Nuviz still has no discounted price, updated software, accessories to purchase separately, and the GoPro 6 is $399.00 at BestBuy. Nuviz is not there yet, gimmick for the tech addicted gotta have crowd, which I belong too. I returned mine after two weeks of riding. I took off after 150 miles due to the gimmick wearing off and the practicality of removing making more sense.
@Sscott19857 жыл бұрын
This is a very good start. Skelly was a cool concept, but most people had issues with what if the helmet had an impact and no longer could use that helmet, then you’re just SOL. Being able to use this on multiple helmets and being portable is awesome. This is the direction this needs to go... I’ll wait until the 2nd or 3rd gen when it’s a bit smaller and better quality sound/ speakers. But, def gets me excited for what’s to come.
@JaretCampisi7 жыл бұрын

@jessaphillips28467 жыл бұрын
I think its just a matter of time before the big helmet companies start figuring out how to integrate the Nuviz tech into the helmet seamlessly... just like i think they're eventually just going to make a helmet with sena controls on the side with the sena fully integrated. they already make helmets with slots for the sena to hook in the side that makes it more seamless but i think they're going to just get fully integrated at some point.

good question. I wonder how the battery holds up to colder weather too
@JoeyThiel6 жыл бұрын
From what I saw, the battery is just an 18650 which is commonly used in vapes. Which would mean, if it acts similar, that extremely cold weather (~20 F) would cause it to act like a low battery. However if it is at room temp or warms up to ~40 F then it will produce normal results.

I've seen one guy say it I'll confirm it. That battery was a 18650 battery and they are used in high power flashlights as well as vaping. You can get them a lot cheaper than 25$ and probably higher quality too. Depending on the amp requirements from the nuviz a LG HG2 might be a great battery for it 3000 mah, 20 amp max continues discharge(if the nuviz does not pull more than 20 amps from the battery it's good)

I dig it. The Sena has literally changed my riding experience for the better and I can't stand riding without it now. I think this will just take that experience to the next level. And I don't think the price is bad at all. How much is a GoPro and a Sena. And if you already have a Sena(with the exception of the Sena SMH10), now you get a still camera and video camera which is just good for safety reasons if nothing else. Good review Chase.

Skully helmet was recently bought out by another company, and are starting production soon. They are honoring the pre-orders from the old Kickstart. They improved the design and made things a bit better with the heads up display, but that of course is my own opinion. (today's date 14Feb18)

What's needed is a cam that is part of the helmet.. just the lens is in the helmet & the video cam itself is relocatable box to put in your pocket or backpack etc.. Akin to Insta360 Go2 features but with longer record time.. The Go2 needs external hard drive 2TB & powerpack battery bank so it just keeps on going.

You mean you want the display projected into the visor itself? That would be extremely challenging! Remember, our visors are usually made of optically-correct polycarbonate. If you wanted imagery displayed on that material, you'd have to invent some ingenious new device, coating or substance. It would have to allow outside light to pass through, *_not_* be so reflective you couldn't see through it, and still let the projected display reflect off of it. Who knows if that's even possible? It's a sweet idea, and no doubt minds greater than mine are already working on it, but I suspect it's still a ways out of our reach.

"It's big compared to what?" It's big compared to a small dog, or a cat, it's huge compared to anything I might actually hang from my helmet. I wouldn't glue a dog to my helmet (or a cat) and I wont be doing it with a Nuviz either, not until they make em much smaller - or - they separate the battery compartment so that it can be mounted either to the rear or on the opposite side of the helmet to balance the whole thing out.

Idk if it was from chase talking too loud but his was very clear and seemed to do the job just fine. I do think $700 is too much when you can combine a few other products to basically get the same features for half the price. But, I must say if I had the extra cash I would buy this thing. Beats paying $1500 for a maybe.

Does the GPS use and notify you of traffic conditions like Google maps does. That way you can change your route or expect to slow down should there be an accident along your current route. How does the size of the Nuviz compare to a GoPro and a Sena? Seems to me that if you don’t already have those devices and you are trying to set up a helmet to maybe start motovlogging (or just to have video to protect yourself), the $700 price tag is comparable to buying those other devices. Add in the other features it has and it seems like a pretty solid choice. I’m sure when Sena’s first came out, they cost more and weren’t as good as they are now. Like Chase said, this is a first gen product. Just look at smartphones, tv’s (first plasma/lcd/led, now 4K), and computers. All started out with low quality/high price and as time moves on, quality goes up as price comes down.

High drain batteries are designed to pull a lot of current and not explode, it will do nothing for how long it lasts. I doubt that device would pull enough power to heat the battery to the point of failure.

You noticed I did say might and reason I said might is because that isn't going to pull the same volts or watts that a mod would.As you know your coil does change the volt output whereas the nuviz pulls the same power and doesn't ever change so a good 18650 from a vape shop might be a whole lot better than what they are providing
