Excellent review, Chase! MY TURN: I've had one of these Headwave TAGs for over a year, and it was an awesome experience at first. The ability to easily "install" a sound system to your helmet, and a very unique sound system at that, is wonderful, but even more incredible is the sound. Being able to feel the base, especially in dubstep music, and have your helmet beat to the music is amazing. It's also really easy to use with one button for play, pause, power and sync. Unfortunately, I found that I couldn't really hear very much if I ever went above 35mph. And the sound quality itself is not as good as what you'll get with ear muff speakers like Sena. The biggest con, and the thing that kills it for me, is the price. Like Chase said, you can get so much more for less with Sena; it doesn't make sense to buy this unless you hate money. The product is cool, the price isn't.

Hey Walterrific - thanks for posting your experience. One suggestion - if you're not getting over 35 MPH I think it's very unlikely the device has a good connection with the surface of the helmet - you should try remounting it. There should be an extra adhesive behind the stickers in the packaging.

Thanks for the heads up Chase! Looks like an awesome product, but I have to agree with you on the no mic. Now I'm sure if this is just the 1st iteration of future devices that company will make, I'm sure they'll figure out how to get mic capabilities for us. Till then, I'll stick to my Sena 10S.

I have to agree... I will stick with my SENA until it 'adds' phone operations. MOST of my riding is either at or above 60/70mph [ highways and Interstates ] or it is twisty roads in N GA and W NC, with the louder engine volume of hard acceleration... So no matter how "Hi-Tech" it is, it would not satisfy what I need...
@justjimmy41717 жыл бұрын
Crazy thought... what if you mounted it on the forehead instead of the back of the helmet? Ears are shaped for sounds coming from the front.

USB cables that run power and data through and connect magnetically have been around for a few years. You can buy them on Amazon. They're not rare.
@MrTakdown57 жыл бұрын
The reason it probably doesnt work under 70 and above speeds is because it uses micro vibrations to send the audio, its just like another device i bought a while ago called the Sonic Quake, both devices basically just make hard surfaces or any surface into a speaker
@JetMech1007 жыл бұрын

I bought some ebay speakers for 15 bucks. Rewired it into my helmet. Oh and it's Bluetooth wireless. Works. Thanks!
@Azlehria7 жыл бұрын
The reason nobody makes magnetic data connections is data integrity. If your power cable disconnects while charging (ever notice that mag cables are only put on devices with batteries?), nothing really happens other than charging stops. If your data cable disconnects during a transfer, you got corrupt data - not so nice if you're in the middle of a firmware upgrade, or transferring a very large video file over USB 2.0. They also really like to collect magnetic dust, which is what finally killed my stereo Bluetooth headset. Ironically shorting power pins is something many devices can survive, while shorting data pins can kill the ports on *both* sides of the connection.

What is good for listening to music at 70MPH on the freeway on a naked bike?
@mrrrrr1rob5905 жыл бұрын
I feel like I would like this product better if there was an option to mount it within the chin bar. Even if the shape had to be changed to accommodate. Plus I like to keep my music to myself mostly. I feel like it would help with that. Awesome that there are no external cords though. The other drawback is I wear multiple helmets, so adhesive mounting is a no-go. Especially at higher prices.
@MotoStrikerUnit77 жыл бұрын
may concern would be putting high-wave vibration on something this is going to protect my head from a fall, would this create small cracks or weaken helmet ? , i mean if you some much as tap a helmet the manufacture wents you to get rid of it. and no it is not the same vibration as a bike your body takes most of it , and wind vibration is more pushed away. its a cool idea though
@garza2416 жыл бұрын
Standard micro USB would've been a better choice, break or lose this cord is gonna be a pain and big bucks to replace
@kobayashimaru81147 жыл бұрын
What a rip off. Jacked up price because it's "motorcycle-specific". You can buy a similar device for $20 minus the magnetic charging port. But as stated in the video, buy a Sena unit that has way more functionality and still costs less.

That proprietary connector is crap just like the apple ones, there is almost no strain relief and if the cable breaks where will you get a new one if you are on the road and how much will it cost? They should have just used a standard micro-usb connector it would be cheaper and more easy to replace the cable if it breaks
@SophieWillborn17 жыл бұрын
not fully true. The cable is only 20 bugs and with a micro USB there would get dirt in it on the bike.
