Hood shocks are also good for people who are vertically challenged as well.

I bought a salvage 2013 mercedes e350 to save couple of dollars, I went for the steel hood and later I realize that its pain in the bum, somebody told me to go for steel hood struts instead of thinking to go back to almunium. This is something I was looking for

I’m thinking of keeping the hood rod in place when I install shocks on a ranger. I bought an old Dakota with bad shocks and carried around a 2x4 till I finally got new ones. Just a nice back up.

That's never a bad idea haha it's not in the way at all. It's more of a cosmetic fix.

Before my lift these were a luxury item. After my lift they became a necessity. No more standing on my tippy-toes to dork around with the prop rod!

I feel ya with that one! haha

Super awesome 👏. I need to stop watching your channel... to many more of these videos and I’m going to have to find a bronco so I can play with it. Keep up the good work.

How heavy are these hoods? Would it be conceivable to adapt a set onto my 1968 Ford LTD (Galaxie)? Can't find hood springs for my generation..

Try to install on my car but the hood strut wont go down , is there something i had to do first for it to fold?
@wildhorses4x43 жыл бұрын
First question: did you buy the strut from us? If so, try to compress the strut by hand or on the floor. If it doesn't compress, it may be a bad strut. If that is the case, and you bought it from us, shoot us a call and we can get a replacement headed your way.
@kafatty92453 жыл бұрын
Yeah i try to compress it but it wont even move

Nice video, but I have that bracket and needed to add a brace along the hood edges, the weight of the hood will flex the hood at the point of the bracket, there will be a hump in your hood due to the support rod, and long enough the hood will start to crack.
@wildhorses4x44 жыл бұрын
Yeah, good point. That's definitely something you can do. We love hearing about Bronco guys taking matters into their own hands with stuff like that.
@a9js723 жыл бұрын
Could you please upload a brief video or picture of the brace you fabricated?
@richardsimpson51523 жыл бұрын
@@a9js72 Sorry, I sold my Bronco, but basically you run a brace the length of the hood along the edge and attach the connecting strut bracket to the brace , that way the weight and pressure of the strut is distributed to the whole length of the hood and not just the center .

Great video! I did the install for a fiberglass hood. Doesn't look to different from the metal hood vs fiberglass hood. The complexity for either install looks about the same. Thanks as always for the video Mitch!
@wildhorses4x44 жыл бұрын
Yeah they are pretty straightforward install, the both of them. Thanks for checking it out, Shawn!

Hey Mitch. Just unboxed my fiberglass hood kit and noticed the fender brackets don’t have the side-specific orientation yours do. IOW, they’re gonna need some fabrication as well. Is that how it should be? Another great video!
@wildhorses4x44 жыл бұрын
The fiberglass kit is different from the steel kit. The fender brackets aren't side specific in that kit so you should be good. Thanks!

The shocks pop off super easily. I pop mine off all the time when I'm working in the engine bay. I usually rest the hood on the windshield, but for those worried about paint or the wipers, you can keep your hood prop and use it when you need to pop the shocks off.
