The TCL RayNeo X2 are the first widely available consumer-grade smartglasses I know of outside of China that feature proper waveguide displays.

I'll prefer this than some monstrous apple vision

this argument is super short sighted. avp and these glasses are trying to do the same thing, its literally just a function of time

Yeah, ideally we would have the functionality of a full ar/vr headset in the form factor. But right now this one is extremely limited in performance and visual fidelity, and vr headsets are bulky. Eventually they should converge - like the other guy is saying.

This is just a portable display, Apple Vision Pro is real AR. You can't have AR (Augmented Reality) without sensors to have awareness of reality. Those sensors take up space, so it would be impossible to have real AR in something this size. If you want portable displays, then you aren't interested in AR at all.

If you're looking at this and thinking this is the goal, thats the wrong mind frame. You should be looking at this and thinking, "we are literally just a millimetre here, and a few more millimeters there-away from getting to their goals

any plans for a full review? I just got the Viture smartglasses because I had a hard time choosing between smartglasses. Would like a comparison

Yeah no thanks, I look bad enough with thin frame glasses I have to wear, plus having a big honking camera on my nose is a big no go with my work, and I'm sure it's the same for a lot of people as well.

Yeah. I think these need to start having some kind of physical sliding cover for the camera.

Can the main lens be replaced with a regular lens? Because people like me who are over 40 years old wear glasses lens size plus 1.00
@jom143928 күн бұрын
yes - theyre usually 3d printed so having the waveguide display plus optical function for vision correction is possible.

It's just, if I'm going to get smart glasses and it doesn't workout I'ld rather pay $300 rather than thousands. I definitely feel the same way about smartphones as well.

This product only makes sense if you have the balls to actually build in facial recognition for people you look at. If you aren't willing to do that why bother?
