Thank you John!! Do you mean custom notification sounds, then no, but there is an alternate way, I usually just copy over the 'notification' folder manually from the internal storage of the old phone to the new one and change the sound manually.

@Tech Guy Charlie Yes, but what about notification sound settings in specific apps that have their own sounds? I'm not convinced that it's possible to get this to transfer across and as soon as you change the default notification sound in the volume settings, then any app provided sounds are overwritten.

Last time I had it done at the store & it took awhile! But, it didnt transfer all my fonts, icons & qnything I paid for on Samsung, so i had to but a couple new ones. I assume ill have to do that again.

I have a question; I use Samsung S9+ with 128GB internal memory and a sd card storage 32GB, and would like to transfer data to my new Samsung A34 with 128GB internal memory and a sd card storage 128GB. This is a great comprehensive video on this topic. However, I just followed it to the letter to transfer data from a Samsung Fold4 to a Fold5. It took over 8 hours. When it finally completed, I could not find any way to evaluate the transfer process to determine what came over and what didnt. Comparing storage usage, theres a 50gb difference post transfer with less on the new phone. In addition, many applications required me to re-loggin, ie voicemail, non-gmail email account, etc. Some apps seemed to have been loaded from the App Store instead of through the transfer. Some apps updated and looked different making it even harder to compare. A new camera app was deleted, and my Samsung messaging app converterd itself to the Google messaging app. Icons changed, as did some app configurations. No offense to this video, but it amazes me how confusing it still is to transfer a mirrored copy from/to like phones. The transfer should be identical to the kb unless theres an explanation. Updates should be separate post-transfer. I now have to spend countless hours testing and reviewing each app because I have no confidence in the process. If my experience is my fault, please comment below so I can learn.

Very helpful video. How about if you have a new phone, that comes with a no sim, so you swap the sim into the new phone, surely then the old apps (WhatsApp for example) won't be on the old phone any longer to transfer over to the new one? I guess what I'm asking is, do you need two sim cards at the moment when you do this switch over of data from old to new?

Thank you!! And, to answer your question, the location of the SIM does not matter, it can be in your old or new, you can even do this without having a SIM in any of your phones. I hope this helps.

Yes, it will transfer over your banking apps as well!! But most likely you'll need to re-login.

Thank you for this helpful video, well explained. My old phone, Note 20 has an SD card full of pics, data, some apps moved there etc, however the new S23 Ultra I got has no SD card. No body address this issue on how Smart Switch will handle getting that data over to the new SD cardless phone. Any ideas? Thank you. EDIT: I just went ahead with Smart Switch wirelessly and it even transferred the data from the SD card and placed it properly :-)

Hey Steven, I've faced a similar issue, after everything backing up to a USB, I could not restore Secure folder on another phone, I did not get any error, it just didn't restore it on the new phone, even though I had selected 'everything'. I guess its a bug.

Welcome and SIM does not matter, you can leave it in your old phone, or put it in the new one, or not have it in any of the phone, the end result will be the same.

You can factory reset the other phone after transferring your data, both phones are totally independent.

Charlie how are you buddy first let me start off by saying THANK YOU!!!! I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS BECAUSE YOU GET STRAIGHT TO THE POINT NO NONSENSE AT ALL. So with that being said I'm going to try to extend the same courtesy to you I had a problem with my z fold 3 but because I had insurance they upgraded me to a Samsung Z4 now I'm having a problem with my Z4 and rather than them sending me a another phone which by the way they're sending me a Z5 for my inconvenience butts they want me to send my phone that's not functioning the way it should and once they see that the phone is in transit to their facility then they will send me my my z fold 5 so in this case what do I do Charlie. Just a little heads up everything to my Google account add to my Samsung account I just can't remember the passwords so before I wind up removing the SD card or reset to factory settings I have to set up new passwords for both accounts one more question I'm sorry the I watch this video not too long ago unfortunately and I followed your steps and everything from the screensaver my apps EVERYTHING. Some apps like WhatsApp and some authenticators cant be transferred over to the new phone because of their 'app policy' in that case you will have to restore their data manually and as for WhatsApp, you can do it via Google Drive.

Random but do you have any videos where you compare a certain models of Samsung? I know this is an old phone but recently got my mom replacement Asurion insurance replacement for a note 8 and they gave us a note 10 she calls me and asked where I got the phone and if it was a burner phone, I don’t think she knows what that even is lol but wanted to see if you had any videos comparing the two her phone stop charging and she could only make calls on speaker. Whatsapp doesnt support chat transfter through SmartSwitch, but you can always transfer over the chats using the Google drive backup or transfer it locally through the "Transfer Chats" tool in the Whatsapp settings.

Hey Cheryl, Smart Switch app does not transfer chats, however it does transfer WhatsApp media like photos and videos, for chat you will need to use the Google drive backup option in WhatsApp itself, then restore it on the new phone.

Phone number is irrelevant! That is linked to your SIM or E-SIM, this just transfers photos, videos, apps, accounts, messages and contacts. 😊 I hope this helps.

It depends on the app, Samsung Messages and Google Messages, both will keep the chat data, however WhatsApp requires a manual backup through the app itself.

WiFi isnt necessary! The phone uses its own p2p connection. However you will need internet connection to update the Smart Switch app.

Can you see anything on the screen? or is it completely gone? If the screen is gone, then you will need a USB type C to USB A and HDMI adapter to see the screen on an external display. Then connect a mouse in one of the free ports of the adapter and then you should be able to control your old phone and transfer everything over to the new one.

Hey, this method wont transfer the WhatsApp chats, you'll need to backup its chat data to Google Drive first and then download it on the new phone! Its pretty easy!

Wireless transfer takes forever and cable transfer demands a USB to USB format, none of my three Galaxy phones comes with that, only charger cable that's not equipped that way. Well done Samsung.

WhatsApp chat backup isnt supported by this feature as Whatsapp's policy does not allow its 'App Data' to be transfered, you will need to backup the chat to Google drive and restore it on your new phone.
