Lightworks Audio Basics pt1

Finally updated!!! A much requested video to learn how to deal with audio in Lightworks. Now updated for version 2022. We go through the making of a silly advert, with a voiceover and background music. Stay tuned for further audio videos in the coming weeks!

Your tutorials are awesome and I learned a lot about this video editing tool. I think I've watched all your videos but I don't get how to resolve an issue. It would be great if you give me some advice. This is the scenario: The video is someone talking to the camera and I edited to cut some undesired parts and to shorten the video. However, I wanted to improve the voice adding some effects (compression, EQ, limiter) but the only way I found is to add the FX to every single cut and set the parameters for every one of them. This is extremely slow and prone to errors. My question is: Is there a better way to do this? and also, Is there any option for applying the FX to the whole channel instead of some cut of it? Again, thank you for your great tutorials and I hope you keep doing new content!

Yeah but How do I take out the audio & replace it with another- Iv tried to do that but the audio I am trying to edit into the video is a condensed version, not the full audio- How do I change that

Hi, can you help me? i don't understand how many computer can i activate if i buy a perpetual Create licence for lightwork (i have a pc and a laptop that i use) and if i change computer i can trasfer the licence? (sorry for my english but i'm an italian early user of lightworks)

Thanks Mad (I hope you don't mind me being on a first name basis). I haven't tried yet but want I want to do is make some clips that I can import into LW complete with sound. This is for my logo that appears near the beginning and my theme song that appears at the end. Can I produce a video with the video and the audio and save it, and then import the video and audio onto all my videos as clips? Yep bad audio is common, especially when businesses use a video promotion on You Tube.

So I'm guessing you want to make inserts that you can then "insert" into your videos. Then yes, that's possible. Basically do what you need to do, put in the logo, music, edit and then export that to a movie. Put that movie in a convenient place and then whenever you make a new video, import that insert into your media library and use it like any other clip. It will have it's own audio track so just be careful of the levels.

Is there a way to sync your audio automatically? I use a recorder to record my audio and then sync it with the video. In power director it does it for you when you select the video and audio and the recorder audio track you just hit sync audio and your done. Can you do that in light works pro?

Unfortunately no - I can't see any kind of audio syncing in Lightworks, at least in the free version that I use.

Hi @Mad Tech, is there a way where I can use the clips, effects and sounds that I used on my other projects to my current project? I keep on doing the same edits for the same effects and it eats up alot of time. Thank you and more power!

with effects, you can make your own presets in the VFX panel for things you frequently use. Also, you can use bins to hold your clips and sounds for easy access

if you right click on the timeline under sequence commands, go to tracks, add audio track

Hi Mad Tech. Sorry to hijack comments. Does anyone have issues starting voice over in the latest LWKS version 2022.2? My machine keeps crashing immediately after hitting the mic icon. I didn't see anything in the forum either. Thanks, Mike

I use Lightworks Pro and I still don't like using the recording functions in Lightworks. I record voiceover on Audible and import the file

@@DuyanFarms Understandable. I did have a crash happen last week when I unplugged my USB mic from the computer. I wasn't using it at the time, but this issue could be connected. Hopefully they get it ironed out. Cheers!
