Is an entire engine designed for animated, interactive and customizable backgrounds that have a vast range of community-driven content. What was MKBHD thinking with this? lol. Wallpaper apps have been around since the dawn of time, and more than 90% of them provide full quality for an "ad watch" and full access at a meager price of $2-5. The top rated are also not just rip-offs, downloaded from the web and edited slightly to fit different phone's sizes, but curated artists providing a fully originally produced service. It's like he wanted to release a mediocre service, or lacked the imagination to come up with something more interesting.

The Panels thing is so funny to me. MKBHD is supposed to be such a highly renowned tech reviewer, but his own app shows he has the same priorities as Apple: yesterday's ideas at tomorrow's prices. I think my favorite is when people make these boneheaded claims about Apple when it comes to USB C, not realizing they were literally involved with creating USB C and Lightning was revolutionary for what it was at the time. Yes, the S24 Ultra can shoot video in 4K 120 fps, but the iPhone 16 can do it in HDR, and not HDR10 or HDR10+, but in Dolby Vision, and also in ProRes. And yes, the cable in the box of the iPhone is only USB 2.0, but even phones from Samsung or chinese brands worth more than 3.000 USD do the same. Maybe the iPhone isn't a prototype like those foldable with screens so fragile, that a nail can damage them, but the iPhone is always at the bleeding edge. The thing is, Apple will not ship "half-baked" stuff like shooting in 8K 30 fps in SDR or in 4K 120 fps in SDR, that's not acceptable according to the standard of Apple. Even their 60 hz panel can do new things like lowering the brightness to just 1 nith.

to me, subscription only makes sense if you are using it regularly, like spotify, netflix etc. but wallpaper is like buying a knife. you pick and settle with one. maybe after few months you feels its kinda dull or boring, then u grab a new one. it doesn't make sense to have monthly subscription for wallpaper?! It should be FREE for SD quality to try it on. After you like it, you can purchase it (with reasonable wallpaper price) one time per wallpaper OR let the ADs pay it for you. That's it. Imagine if the price is 1 dollar per wallpaper. 50 dollars means, 50 wallpapers per year! who change their wallpaper 50 times per year?! If you do change at least 50 wallpapers every year, then you shouldn't be mad at the price. This app is definitely for you.

Best case scenario : real tech innovations are being worked on quietly and will come out as huge surprises and cause true tech revolutions on reveal Worst case scenario : there are no more tech innovations, "AI" is the only thing out there and this is the reason investors are dumping billions into it hoping it'll one day be useful
