Given that the B80 does NOT work as a battery extension, only as a charger, I will just buy a LiFePO4 battery and toss it in a cheap battery box. That will give me 50% more capacity than the B80 for about half the price. Other youtubers have already demonstrated using a LiFePO4 battery to charge the EB3A directly.

I have a EB3A also it’s a pretty nice little Power Station however it is a pain to only get about three hours worth of television out of it I wondered about adding a LIFEPO4 also do you think it’s safe? I thought about a 50 amp hour battery or maybe a 100. right now I have a small home solar system made up primarily of Renorgy 100 W solar panels and Victron energy products when my EB3A Gets low on power I plug it into my Victron Phoenix 1200 inverter and recharge it that way I was using two solar panels to charge it however I recently bought a little baby blue Victron charge controller 100/15 smart charge controller and I used the two panels I was charging the eb3a with and combined them with an additional one I had in the garage to power that little charge controller I paired it(the 100/15 c/c)with my 100/50 charge controller so I could have a little extra power to keep my refrigerator running I put a three-way plug adapter in my inverter and I have my refrigerator plugged in and the power station only as needed. I guess it’s kind of crazy to do it that way however it’s quick and my system can handle it so far anyway so that’s how I’m doing it I think I need to build an additional system just to charge the Power Station and oversize it a little bit maybe and have some additional back up battery storage.

you can get a 100ah lithium phosphate battery and recharge your eb3a. i think charge rate will be around 80-100 watt per hour. if that's slow, then you can use a booster(step up converter) to boost 12volt to 24 volt. that set up is much cheaper. there are several YT video showing you how to do that.

Great video, it answers the questions I had about the unit , for my usage I think it's a waste of time but to each their own. I just use a 220ah Timeusb battery with a 12 to 24 Volt step up and it still comes out cheaper then that unit and will not shut off on me until I shut it off or the battery is dead. 😎😎

Thanks for detailed explanation about powerbank mode. Honestly I don't think It's a good way to use EB3A. The reason is missing real path-through charging. So every time EB3À charges itself and discharges itself simultaneously life of batteries dramatically is decreased. With real path-through charging you could use B80 as main source of power and control energy usage with eb3a effectively. I have impression that Bluetti stopped on half of way here.

If you use a expansion battery pack (B80) or solar charging, does the passthrough mode use up the EB3A's battery cycles? or does it go straight through?
@TechMadeEzy
@TechMadeEzy 6 ай бұрын
Concerning Cycles whether it's the add-on battery or the EB3a you will use a cycle once you go from 100% down to zero that will use one cycle on any of those devices. That really doesn't have anything to do with pass-through charging I hope that answered your question if not let me know

Tell me if I’m wrong. Seems to me this comes in handy when you need to use an Eb3a AC plug (600 watt inverter) and you need extra stored power for that. Otherwise, I just use them individually for DC things. In that scenario, I thought $600 was a decent deal for all those watt hours in the B80. If I ever upgrade to an AC60 or 180, I already have the B80 expansion.

So what you are saying is for about $1000 I can get the eb3a and this extra battery giving me about 90ah of 12v. Of course I still have to buy an extra cable. Except the extra battery makes this device stop being an all-in-one, easily portable unit. And the extra battery must be turned on after the eb3a's battery has already started to drain and it will only charge at less than 200w. I'm sorry, but that is extremely expensive for what you get. You can get an ecoflow Delta 2 (1024wh and 1800w). The Delta 2 has fast charging, 0-80% in 50 minutes or 0-100% in 80 minutes. This costs $800 and is an all-in-one unit. The Delta 2 also allows expanding the batteries up to 3kwh.

@TechMadeEzy No, as I see it, that's a different way to charge it. Expansion would be to add capacity to the system. The B80 automatically shuts down. Not making it part of your capacity of system. You would need to babysit it and restart B80 to charge randomly. They cheeped out on the AC180. I like bluetti more than ecoflow, but ecoflow has them beat in this category size. IMO, sorry if I sound like a snot in this reply. I just know there is a big difference between changing alternatives to actual battery expansion. 🔋
