The Moccamaster comes with a five year warranty, the Bunn not sure but typical warranty is 1 year on a Ninja and most brands and up to 3 to 5 years of a Hamilton Beach. Moccamaster is entirely made in Norway with European sourced parts since 1964. Bloom is critical to off gas the CO2 witch can alter negatively the flavour. Temperature control is critical during entire cycle, so getting the temp up right from the start is Moccamaster's strength. The Moccamaster can be repaired at home since all parts are available online, unlike most if not all other brands which are considered disposable. You literally get what you pay for. End result is a superior cup of coffee from a simple machine that can easily last your lifetime.

After watching this I was concerned with the Moccamaster I ordered possibly not soaking all the grounds. I got it in and mine soaks them all thoroughly no problem. The entire pot of coffee is about 185 degrees soon as it finishes. I'm wandering if your grounds aren't ground correctly or if something's strange with the one you have? I got a 2nd gen 1zpresso jx hand grinder with 30 clicks per rotation and set it at 2 rotations out (60 clicks) after researching recommended settings. I noticed a definitely l definite improvement in taste with the grinder which I was skeptical before trying it. Personally, I use 40 grams of coffee for 48 oz water as that's strong enough for me. The 1zpresso grinds with almost no effort and is extremely high quality feeling! I was worried about working to grind but it's not hard at all and no regrets! Tap it on your palm a couple taps after grinding and takes the mess out of the grinder from the static and puts it in the removable chamber where it belongs. I can't believe the grinder made as much difference as it did. I drink coffee without sugar and only filtered coffee too help with my triglycerides as non filtered coffee and sugar both supposedly raise them. I actually enjoy my coffee now even without the sugar! Anyway, thought I'd recommend you try a hand grinder. I was worried about the price of the jx but now I'm happy with the quality! Thanks for this video that helped me decide to pay the extra for the Moccamaster. No regrets and mine has no problem pouring like I've read some say. No drips period. Anyway, I seen so many complaints over the small stuff and about had me changing my mind but now glad I went ahead. Replaceable high quality parts, best coffee I've tried, and super nice looking in the kitchen!

I’ve had a BUNN for the last 8 years, and it is far superior to your typical “Mr. Coffee”. No “plasticky” taste, and the fact that the water is sprayed through the grounds quickly with that showerhead nozzle ensures that the grounds are not over-extracted. It allows the BUNN to produce a pot of coffee that has the strength, body, and flavors I want, without the harshness I’ve noticed with your standard “Mr. Coffee”-style brewers that “trickle” the water through. I did notice that the MoccaMaster seemed to trickle the water through on just one side of the filter basket. Do you think it still gets an even extraction of all the grounds in the filter basket, despite this? Do you think it makes up for not having as complete of an extraction with having possibly a little bit hotter water? I guess, the question is, does the MoccaMaster make a pot of coffee that’s three times better than the BUNN, since it cost more than 3x more? Or, even if the coffee made by the TechniVorm is not 3x better, is it still worth the money for some reason?

Thanks for the input. Bunn coffee makers are really good I agree. No the moccamaster does not make a cup of coffee taste 3 times better. I am not sure how much better the moccamaster taste, Maybe its just in my head because I am learning about coffee when it is first brewed it gives off CO2, this is call the Bloom. I had never really seen this before until I saw it with the MoccaMaster. The moccamaster had a really good bloom. The Bunn might also it's just hard to see since you can not look at while it is brewing. I agree the Bunn is a great coffee maker. My dad has used bunn coffee makers since the 1970's. I guess I just like the looks of the Moccamaster on the counter. Actually the wife thinks the moccamaster looks much better. I am not a coffee expert and it might just be in my head but I did think the moccamaster tasted a little bit better maybe 20%. Thanks for watching and sharing what you know, you are very knowledgeable with your coffee makers.

@@JustADad Just FYI, you can bloom the grounds with the BUNN. You only need to open the lid about 10 seconds into the brewing process, stopping the water flow, to allow the bloom. Then close it again to resume the process. I’d love to try some coffee from the MoccaMaster. If you search “best coffeemaker”, the MoccaMaster comes up in just about every discussion. So, all those folks have got to be onto something. And, as you said, it’s a really cool looking unit. I do enjoy the modern design.

From watching how the water flows over the grounds, the Technivorm seems to be more uneven than the Bunn. The water flows mainly over the left side of the grounds and the Bunn seems to spray the water more evenly. It seemed during the earlier part of the brew, on the Technivorm, the grounds on the right weren't even wet yet as the left side of very wet and blooming. Did anyone else notice that?
@JustADad
@JustADad 2 жыл бұрын
yes I did notice that also. It seems the Bunn and others like to really fill the basket up with alot of water and the coffee grounds kind of float around, the moccamaster seems more even and steady with a big bloom.
@katzparov
@katzparov 2 жыл бұрын
f you have the Moccamaster with the 3 setting brew basket which sits on a Round base, you can easily swivet the basket to different positions throughout the brew cycle for a more even saturation. Or you can just do that at the very beginning to evenly wet the grounds, then leave it alone. However, if you have the Moccamaster shown in this presentation, and do not have the 3 setting brew basket that sits on a round base, swiveling will not be possible. I tend to swivel the basket throughout. It only takes 5 minutes or so to brew a full pot, so it really doesn't take up too much of my time while I'm doing other things in the kitchen. Simply reach over every so often and reposition the basket. I do find that without any hands on assistance, that the water from the Moccamster tends to burrow a divit into the grounds. Swiveling makes a huge difference. A little shake of the basket and tap flattens the bed during the final drawdown. If the showerhead was longer, reaching out to the middle of the basket, then swiveling would not do much since the water would be pouring right over the middle. I don't know how well a longer showerhead would perform without it being wider than what they now do provide. Now, a wider and longer showerhead might do the trick.

One of my criteria, was how it fits during use. The Bunn pits everything at the front, so it fits practically under a cabinet and doesn’t have to be pulled forward for use. I think the MoccaMaster is far superior in aesthetics, might even brew better, but not 3x better.

I would also like to see those two particular model, Bunn, coffee, makers, compared, because, the claim to fame of the bun, velocity brew, is the consistent water temperature that is allowed by nature of the fact that it holds the water preheated in the tank. Also, the fact that it sprays the hot water through the grounds, quickly, and forcefully, is very similar to a manual pourover. I find that the BUNN works so well, it is actually hard for me to duplicate or improve on it with my manual pourover.
@naturestrail2296

From what I understand that model/style Bunn uses a lot of electricity to keep water heated constantly (24hrs a day) then you pour more water in and it displaces the already hot water to make it faster. Moccamaster is way better for home use as it doesn't waste a ton of electric. Will the electric use add up to the cost difference over 10 years or so? Possibly! Heating water without much insulation 24 hours a day?

One thing to keep in mind is that conical filters are going to produce a stronger more earthy robust flavor vs a basket filters sweet and smooth variation. Neither is inherently better than the other but as someone who drinks coffee all day I prefer the calmer approach of a basket filter. It’s like Merlot vs Cabernet Sauvignon. That is why you get a stronger more “coffee” type flavor from the Moccamaster vs the Mr Coffee and Bunn you have compared it to. That said, there is more going on than just filter shape so yes if you compare the Moccamaster to other conical units you will see a better flavor from the Moccamaster. Both, however, will exude that stronger earthy coffee note basket filters do not have. One thing I’m surprised Moccamaster does is use a plastic basket vs stainless steel. Plastics will impart flavors that stainless will not. I’d be curious to see you do this comparison again with an all stainless commercial Bunn vs the Moccamaster. Both come in at the $350 mark. I think the results would be similar with the Moccamaster being stronger but the commercial Bunn would be cleaner and smoother than the plastic Bunn. Just a thought. BTW, if you do decide to do this be sure and order the stainless basket separately as it does not come standard. The basket retails for about $45. I’m getting the commercial Bunn because in the end I feel it will be a better investment over time than the all plastic consumer Bunn at $99-$150. That, and it also looks so much better. The Moccamaster is a looker though for sure. If they offered it with a flat filtered stainless basket I’d probably do that instead but it’s a close call.

@@richardr2238 Yikes, that’s an awful lot of all caps and exclamation marks. 😮😂 I was referring to the overall plastic construction of consumer Bunns, not the water tanks. Now I’m not saying the plastic is going to crack or decay but they just aren’t built like stainless steel commercial units are. They’re also not meant to be worked on the same way commercial units are. That is what I meant by long term investment. Yes, I personally love the look of commercial Bunns and think the consumer models look extremely cheap and ugly. My other option was a Moccamaster, that is priced similarly to the commercial Bunn, but the $100 consumer Bunn was never on the table. To that end no matter how good the coffee coming out of a consumer Bunn is that thing is not going to sit on my countertop. Especially when you consider it costs the same to buy several cheap machines over time as it does to just buy quality from the start. It’s not just “my” money dude, it’s the same money.

glad i stumbled onto this vid. i'm currently in the process of either buying: 1- bunn 2-technivorm 3- believe it or not a ninja - respectively in that order. before i get screamed at with the ninja option, the only reason why it peaked my interest is because it "claims" to do the same process as the bunn or techni or other professional brands being that it keeps the temp between 195-205deg, it has a large round shower head that evenly distributes into the grounds, and it also only puts a small amount of water into the grounds to bloom and decarbonize after a short amount of time, then proceeds to spray the 200 degree water into the basket, plus the carafe has a "fluid straw" inside so the coffee that is released into the carafe goes through the straw into the bottom of the carafe (like the technivorm) to evenly distribute the coffee in the carafe itself. i believe the warmer is temp adjustable (can't remember what it said), and it makes a full 12 cups, not 8 or 10, timer, different brew settings, clock, comes with paper filters, and is only $70 @ wally world. so, all that, peaked my interest. the bunn home model 10 cup at world of wally is only $99. the reason why bunn is my #1 pick is because i know what it taste like from the professional restaurant series and i was amazed how great regular folgers coffee tasted. it was simply amazing. the professional v series starts at @ $300, sams has it for $248, it makes 12 cups, and is 95% all stainless steel, the shower head and filter basket is plastic but they offer the metal ones on amazon separately, the carafe/decanter is not included, you have to buy it separate along with the filters. amazon sometimes runs specials on them or used prices. the technivorm is rated #1 but it comes at a cost, and to me, i've seen a lot of reviews that they break down fairly easy over time but is best on taste, i have never tasted from one so i dunno about it. i had thought about the bonita but the videos of it while performing were not that impressive to me and some reviewers were saying it leaked on them. anyone with first hand knowledge and experience of these 3 coffee makers please let me know what you would do or which one would you pick???? i have narrowed it down to these 3 with a slight edge leaning to the bunn, whether home model or professional. i am very curious to see if anyone owns a ninja ce200 to get their input. thanks.

Wow you have really done your research. I love all 3 of these coffee makers. The Ninja Hot cold kzbin.info/www/bejne/g3nUdqGdq79-m6c I really liked this one because it would actually stop the brew shortly after it starts to help with the bloom. It is the only coffee maker out of these 3 that does that. The Bunn is just so fast. It is the fastest 10 cup coffee maker on the market. If speed is what you want then the bunn is the way to go. The Moccamaster I really like it is sorta fast, easy to use, only 2 switches. and the coffee taste great. the Ninja looks nice but has lots of switches and buttons. Speed then Bunn, Taste, Moccamaster, most options Ninja. Thanks for Watching and you kind Words!!!!! Let me know what you get and how you like it.

The Moccamaster is my choice and that’s simply due to the fact it offers a steady brew temp which will affect extraction. Also, for me, I’d rather have a slower brew that yields quality, verses faster speed with lower quality brew. Both are well known, but when you research, you might be surprised. Both don’t brew the exact same way either.

Interesting comparison: Bunn coffeemaker made for those who brew 1 pot per day, and the fancy MoccaMaster coffeemaker. Simple verses gimmicky. Really, we are worried about coffee bloom?? Probably an important issue always avoided is fineness of the grind of the coffee. Each maker, because of design requires different amounts of coffee to reach the preferred taste. And there is no gage to measure preferred taste. Taste is also controlled by the beans used and the roasting techniques. Regardless, this is still a nice video showing the simplicity, reliability, and quickness of the Bunn. Nice video! :)

See the test video here : kzbin.info/www/bejne/rnWZiWpol8mWbcU If you aren’t used to a great pot of coffee, you won’t notice the difference.
