I have the hardware ALA Benjolin is amazing. Plus it works with all the expanders from the Turing machine that ALA also have versions of. I also built a diy desktop Benjolin many years ago having the extra I/O and expanded functionality on the ALA version is great!
@DaveBenhamMusic4 ай бұрын
@@JHSynth I used the ALA Benjolin documentation as a starting point for my Benjolin Oscillator design. The next Venom release version 2.9 adds the expanders, which I call Gates and Volts - they are heavily inspired, but not identical to the ALA expanders. If you try out the Venom Benjolin Oscillator, be sure to check out the documentation - it includes a link to a patch of a full Benjolin emulation (it adds a Vult Unstabile filter and PatchMaster controls). The Venom Benjolin emulator sound and behavior compares very favorably to the ALA hardware - I was able to compare to a friends ALA Benjolin.

Nice vid as always Omri.IMHO the first kick is a nice top kick with a clicky attack already ,perhaps needs a sub layer which would give you the option of adding a rumble if you choose to and work better on a big system.🙂.Also does the Rungler give you the option of space in the patterns or are they always constant patterns?
@OmriCohen-Music4 ай бұрын
Cheers! The rungler will indeed always generate patterns, but if you clock it with a sequencer, you can add more space to it I guess.

it will be very useful if you could explain how to fix the bug on the clock. everytime i try to sync my machines hardware with vcv i got problems with the clock and the sequencers , if vcv is master and it look like can-t be slave, or the sequencers not run , or vcv give out a very sloppy clock that not sync 4=4. i experience it also on a new m2 with very good cpu , so is not about it. on the community online there are many user with the same problems and no answer . you still can use outboard machine very well as sound modules , but if you want to track them with the sequencer it sounds bad . please ! >)

Awesome Video. i now finally got into Modular Synthesis. did a few things in bitwig grid in the past but since a few days i am using vcv. but i stil lack a lot of knowledge. this Video comes very handy since Hyptnotic and Raw Techno is my Style of Sound. Maybe you can do a VIdeo on how to make that standard Modular Raw Techno fm melodies like cari lekebush and others do? i still struggle on how to achieve that sound and sequence those melodies. but that Benjolin is a nice tool Keep up the great Videos. I just subbed to your patreon because you do a lot of awesome stuff.

Are you on the most current build? When I updated the ctrl+click to duplicate wires got reversed and I dont know how to switch it back. So instead of duplicating from the same source (like to add clock to 2 different modules) it duplicates from the input of the module (like add 2 inputs to one module which doesnt work) like when you were connecting the resonance of Tangents to the feedback of Prince of Perception. I cant find anything in the manual to change it back. Did this happen to you? Would you know how to change that? Is it a new keybind?

@@OmriCohen-Music nm, saw that you had Oversample active on the oscillator, that seems to fix it.
@DaveBenhamMusic4 ай бұрын
Hey everyone. For better or worse, the behavior you are seeing is by design. From the documentation - "Clock: This is the input that triggers the Rungler. It expects a bipolar clock input, with a high state detected above +1V, and a low state below -1V." You are using a unipolar clock, so it never goes low. It works just fine with a bipolar clock (all of the Benjolin Oscillator outputs are bipolar). Based on the comments, I think I need to provide an option to work with unipolar clock input as well. I will try to address this in the upcoming next release of Venom (should be very soon)
@OmriCohen-Music4 ай бұрын
@@DaveBenhamMusic Well, it works for me also in the video with Clocked, which is uni polar. But as @masonictruth mentioned, if you have oversampling off, it will not work. So I guess it has something to do with oversampling...
