I would say Electro has it more. Electro is the quintessential alien, futuristic vibe music. I don't know much about Neurofunk, Jungle or Psychadelic Trance, but I would hazard a guess that these themes may be secondary to those genres, at best... certainly compared to Electro which has them built into the very essence of the genre (certainly futuristic.. with aliens, machines, and robots as likely accompaniments). But there are huge crossovers between styles of techno and electro to the point where they practically merge (Detroit being one of those main points of convergence).

@EY-zz7xj4 жыл бұрын
Mark McCann Thanks. In fact I barely use it for percussions. Mainly it is for bass. Sometimes leads. The challenge here is dialing the harmonics with that tiny knobs. Not sure I want to change its interface with replacements. And as for the high pitch this is absolutely no prob for dfam. Its range is simply enormous. It easily goes to unpleasant mega ultra highs if needed :)

You're still the best out there on KZbin with this instrument. I check back here frequently. I'm curious: have you tried out the Erica Synths DB01 Bassline yet? I wanted your opinion of that box. I know it's a different animal than the DFAM but I wanted your input as to whether or not it really does separate itself from the pack of 303 clones as much as a lot of the reviewers claim, and if it has any of the esoteric qualities of the DFAM. Thanks!
@EY-zz7xj4 жыл бұрын
Brian R thanks man though I am sure there are lots of real professionals out there unlike me :) as for the DB01, haven’t tried it but seen some demos. Charismatic thing for sure. Though I wanted a more classic acid sound so I got a TD-3. But I am sure DB01 is way more open for interesting experiments! As for the sound quality, unfortunately can’t tell anything as youtube recordings won’t tell the truth. And the reviews are not always unbiassed. This is always a dillema. Though you could easily sell one in case of need. Not in Ukraine though where I live :) If I’d live in Europe or US I’d always buy and sell, searching for my perfect devices I guess.

So, I’m just getting into the analog synths. VSTs all my life. In your description you say you’re getting your effects through Ableton?? So, is there really any point in me buying any effects pedals and such for analog synths if I have Ableton to add my VST effects in? I didn’t realize I could use those on live audio coming in but it makes sense and just hit me like a ton of bricks. 🤦🏻♂️
@EY-zz7xj4 жыл бұрын
Chris Rios Well for me there ARE some nice external fx boxes that make things really interesting but they are really expensive and it is more rational to use some quality vst ones instead, or in my case I ended up using ONLY Ableton default ones for now. Depends on approach. I found myself focusing on tweaking synths themselves with static effects over them, but the main disadvantage of this is that I do not tweak and change effects as I play/produce. (The exceptions are my octa and tr-8 where I am still able to tweak their internal effects as well). So if you’re going to use only Ableton affects, you might need a nice knob controller to variate the fx during your lives.

@@mapanma8533 well I AM adding it with just one dfam :) while the other one is playing the melody on top :) I guess I see your point: you’re trying to figure out how “full” the track can be from one dfam without overlays.
