I never really gave Techno a try because i always thought it was something totally different. After falling in love with Trance, I fell in love with Nu Disco, Then Deep House.. I always felt like i loved a more "Darker" type of house, which brought be to Steyoyoke.. then Tech House and now Techno.. :)

But from other labels i recommend recondite, Mind against or locked groove , shdw & obscure shape , in the house area the legends John talabot , ian pooley or roman flugel more deep jenifer cardini , marvin & guy and in the tech house area i dont listen 2 that but lunar city express seems 2 me the more "serious " producers .. good luck :)

Not a lot of great clubs for actual techno and house in most cities in the US, but if you’re ever in Pittsburgh, PA, we have a small, but world class club called Hot Mass, which I highly recommend. If you go there the first weekend of every month it’s a party called Honcho... expect debauchery.. ✌🏼

Mike Derer Where are you from? If by “hook it up”, you mean get you in, or to DJ, etc., I’m not actually affiliated with the club at all. I know a couple of the local folks who DJ there, and am friendly aquatinted with the guy who helped start and runs the place, but but I have no say or anything to do with the club. About all the hooking it up I can do is be a city host/ambassador of sorts, and take you there. If you’re gay, depending on how lively you are, you’re going to want to go to a Honcho party (not that you have to be gay to enjoy Honcho, but it is a pretty gay night), if not, any Saturday night is a good night there. The club is in the bottom floor/basement area of a gay bathhouse, which is how it’s able to get around the stupid US and PA state laws that you have to close around 2am. Don’t worry though, there is no bathhouse sex happening in the club, unless you go to Honcho nights... but even then it’s not very likely you’d see sex acts, though you could initiate them if that’s your thing, bc anything goes. In that sense, it kind of is like some Berlin clubs.. It’s not like Berlin being an all weekend party though, but it’s all night Saturday till Sunday morning, which is extremely rare in the US. Also, it’s not always techno acts. Often there is good “underground” house music acts too (I like house and techno both, idk about you). Sorry that my reply is so long, but I wanted to explain it all out, incase you actually are serious about wanting to go there! ✌🏼

Anyway, this conversation inspired me to see who’s going to be going through Hot Mass, bc I haven’t been there in ages. I’m definitely going in May, bc Answer Code Request is coming through, and I missed him a last time he played there. Don’t know if you’re a fan, but he released a new album a few weeks back, and it’s one of my fav techno albums so far this year. I think it’s gonna be a live set on some modulars too, not a DJ set. If you like his music, and that’s your kinda set, and you can make it to Pittsburgh in May, I’ll be a city guide for you if you need one. I know I’m a complete stranger, as you are to me, but I kinda just take for granted that people into techno are peaceful, chill people. Anyway, just throwing that all out there.
