A lot of people here are talking about how stupid Blackberry is for coming out with such a product when they weren't in the competition with iPhone or top Android devices in the 1st place and how they are losing business and this isn't the right strategy but people need to realize that a lot of businessperson use Blackberry as their preferred device and maybe this phone is aimed at those loaded people who can afford it.

truth spoken here, Porsche doesn't expect to sell a car to the working class, same way they don't expect to sell you this phone. This is for the rich who don't care what specs, apps, or battery life the phone has. Some rich folks will actually buy it simply because it's expensive.

In the Carrying case,You inserted the phone the other way around . The back is supposed to face the Logo. On the front there is a small dot so you can still view the LED notifications. And it's [ˈpɔʁʃə] not [ˈpɔʁʃ]

Don't know how everyone is bashing this. The luxury phone market is almost a completely different entity in terms of philosophy. Look at the Vertu phones and even the Tag Heuer phones...

Everyone is bashing this phone but they are not thinking about it the right way. Think about it this way. The mass produced, cheap aluminium, 64GB, factory unlocked iPhone 5s (that every single person I see has) costs around US$1000. But this limited edition, beautiful, fine leather and stainless steel, exclusive phone (which also has 64GB and it's unlocked) is US$2350 but it will make you feel unique. This is a luxury product directed towards a different type of consumer that doesn't give the price first priority but cares for rarity and fineness, not towards the 30y/o man living in his mom's basement playing Xbox all day and fighting with 8y/o kids online.

I saw this in Macau in the summer its like 20,000 Macau currency (MOP) which is like over $2000. It's for the rich, its not really a consumer product but more of a collectors. To be honest this isn't even overpriced an iPhone 5s 64GB costs $900. If you want to see overpriced look up Lamborghini phones upwards of 100,000 MOP ( that's a Honda Civic).

My 5S cost me and extra $100 through T-Mobile USA only because I didn't have a full upgrade (total cost was $1,046 - including the $25 ups one day shipping in October [people still don't believe me about the one day shipping, but hey, fuck it:) ]). But I do agree about the blackberry Porsche, there is literally no reason to have one, it's just something to say "hey, look what I have. That's right, I can afford to own completely useless shit"

To be true, this isn't meant to be a beast device. It's meant to be a stylish device, which it certainly is. No tech-nerd would, nor should, ever come remotely close to buying this device. But there might be 100 people in the world willing to buy it for the style, and hey, that's 200 grand :) pocket change for BB but all the same :)

peterbarnett03 Not really pocket change for a failing company, but you're right. If they sold 1000 devices to big time execs and celebs that's 2mil. There is a market for this at some level. I'd argue that the iPhone 5/5s or HTC One still look better than this phone though. Especially the custom made third party ones floating around.

Joey Peters no shit they weren't focused on the general consumer. The business/enterprise market was Blackberry's bread and butter, which got them to almost 50% market share back in 2010. It wasn't a matter of focusing on the wrong segment of the market - they failed because they simply could not adapt quickly enough to competition from Apple and Google to save themselves.
