My biggest issue with the tech in foxhole is sledges and bayonets not being available from the beginning. If you have the technical and industrial ability to build rifles and trycks, then you definitely have the ability to build sledgehammers and bayonets

The whole point of limiting comps to sledgehammer only is so that they're not overfarmed, but using the hammer is so dang slow on salvage. I'd make basic hammer repair only, sledgehammer resource gathering, and have an axe upgrade for the sledgehammer (not a new item, just upgrade) for heavy resource nodes

I have about 270 hours in Foxhole, so I won’t comment much on tech tree improvements. However, I do have a small suggestion regarding artillery shells. Currently, when a shell is about to land directly on you, you hear a very short whistle just before impact. I think it would be more interesting if that whistle were longer. This would make artillery slightly less powerful against infantry, as they’d have more time to react and seek cover. It would also create a more dramatic experience, when you hear the shell coming from a distance and have a tense moment when trying to get into trench or bunker. But if there's any problem with this idea that I haven’t considered, please let me know!

There are times when you have to charge into no mans land where there are not enough trenches to take cover in. Not every battlespace has trenches conveniently placed until the fight has been going on for at least an hour even then I thank the dedication of the engineering players who die multiple times just to dig the trenches in no mans land itself to move the front forward or did you think the trenches randomly generated themselves?

Thank for the video! It's an important topic to expose newer players to. The prototypes can be quite frustrating at times with their inequality. This is a small example, but this war (117) Collie push momentum stopped when our proto was Battle bus vs warden (I believe) half-track. It was 2 days of just not having a real answer. I can't remember what the proto tech before half-track was, but it was two very lopsided ones in a row, I believe. Also proto kits of things that can't be made feels bad. Like Havok timer proto kits.

My theory is the devs want longer wars and with every new update they are trying to make it happen more and more. Now only if they gave us longer breaks between wars :D

I just wish that shovels cost less, maybe just have the starting hammer be more of a generic smaller E-Tool that can’t dig entire bunker or trench complexes but can simply dig a small foxhole, it feels wrong that in a game titled “Foxhole” that to dig one for yourself as a simple infantryman requires risking losing a valuable tool that costs a similar amount to an anti tank rifle to produce

I think warden tanks are weaker than colonial tanks. To be honest, the upgrades are kinda meh for wardens, while for colonials, it's kinda OP.

I think the main issue is overuse of the outlaw. The HTD is very strong frontally, the SVH rivals the spatha in dps with its two guns.

My personal perspective, as a warden loyalist of 1000 hours, though someone who has also played a colli a bit is this. Like shintsungi said wardens have far better tanks from the initial build, silverhands outlaws and widows are great, whereas collies kinda need to upgrade. This means that collies tend to rely on facilities more. The main advantage that warden tanks have, otage that they are good as soon as built is that they tend to have better range, exp outlaw has 45 meter range. A few other non tank things, collies have a few great infantry advantages such as isg boamostaones and grenadiers outfit, but I would say that despite everyone is always praising collie inf I have to say wardens have good stuff too, primarily talking about blakerow here. I think that covers most of the differences but let me know if there is anything I missed

You honestly can't put arty much later than it is right now because even as it stands now, a smart and dedicated builder can just barely get howitzers built before artillery techs. 120mm is what causes the stalemates to end and static fronts to move, even if they're really dug in. Howitzer garrisons will stop just about any attempt at arty and will perpetuate that static front line for another week which isn't fun.

I just played my first day1 of a war yesterday, and I had an absolute blast. It's a nice change of pace, only having to worry about enemy infantry. Also having ten other guys hammering away on the scroop fields alongside you feels better than being all on your lonesome in a scrap hauler.

I think just setting the tech unlocks at fixed points would be better IMO. As you stated sometimes its only a matter of hours between when one faction unlocks before the other. And it would mean that one side doesn't suffer tech wise if you have logi player burn out or worst case, ALTs hindering a faction's progress.

Honestly from this research they basically are at set points. I like that gathering tech materials is a role in this game though. I would hate to see them get rid of it because even those few hours can make a difference when big tech is coming out. I think it's an element of strategy in the game that should stay in my opinion. I would really doubt alts are able to hinder research progress in any productive manner. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. Always good to talk these things out!

Say... 5 alu for a crate of cutlers or something and iron as an alternative to assembly mats for vehicle upgrades. As far as I have seen, wardens only join their clans when the big tanks are opened, so I have not seen a big warden infantry raid or attack until the 10th day of the war. I was an agent in my old clan, I did not see many infantry players, this is because the wardens were very inefficient when it came to infantry.

I kind of would like to know the lore behind the weapons. Some have numerical designations that kind of signify a year of introduction. Examples being the Blakero 871, KRR2-790 Omen, and the Lance 36. Concerning the Lance 36 it is noted to be a new vehicle to the Collie arsenal in lore (at the time it was added) so the 36 is likely an introduction date which going off the Blakero the year in Foxhole is some time after 936. It's just interesting when there are lore bits given out. We dont know a lot about the Colonials or the Warden, only the catalyst that led them to war which likely started 4 or 5 centuries ago after the Veli Civil War. So for around 500 years if not more these two sides have been at war. And the only indications we have of this time frames is the weapons used by both sides indicating an introduction date. It puts into perspective just how long both have been fighting. They likely have been advancing in technology slowly since both sides have been noted to regress, rediscover, and occasionally advance in tech. I have no doubt that this war has not been going on for 500, but quite possibly almost a millenia. Could be possible that the year 0 may have been the start of the war between the Warden and the Colonials. I like the ambiguity of Foxhole lore it gives room to speculate, but i cant deny that i also would like to know the entire picture rather than pieces of it.

back in the day we would control all tech tree and we would see numbers, no dev intervention, no auto tech speed or anything. It was pure, it made things more tactical and it was more fun honestly. You would shape your tech tree since it had branches you could follow, somewhat like HOI4, there were more people working in tech because every war it was true tech race.

Even tho there is some space for decisions, it's usually always the same as in each tier there's always something "must have" so people always choose that one specific tech over the others. Probably having more tiers and not the automatic unlocks (in the category) would help with that as you wouldn't get "stuff for free" in the next tier. And probably tose two trees should be merged together, so the faction would need better decisions if they prefer armor over weapons or other stuff. Personally I would like to make the tech progress like 1.5x longer as well as 25 days to max out everything isn't that much I would say.

So the faction would either choose to go for an upgrade (for extra stats) or a new technology. But yea, that would require a lot of work for devs.

We see this countless amount of times in military history. Thus, at the "end" of the tech tree, it would be cool if upgrades for earlier unlocks in the tech tree unlock or field modifications for vehicles that can be added to vehicles with a hammer and Bmats.

I wouldn't mind some of the early war stuff lasting a bit longer like half tracks and armored cars. I feel like once we get to medium sized tanks around day 15 it all just snowballs really fast.

I've nwgw r played this game, but I have a hard time wrapping my head around why someone would dedicate hours of their life to gathering tech materials in the backlines. Like, you should be getting paid for doing something that boring.

lol! People just love doing certain task in Foxhole. Like I love doing logistics. I know some players from other games don't quite understand this but it just scratches an itch no other game does.
