Just found your channel and subscribed. Been following loopers lately with the hopes that things may line up and afford me the opportunity to pursue this in the not too distant future. That being said, one question if I may since you're "back on the loop" yourselves? We're in mid July now. Are your plans to try and make the turn south past the Great Lakes before the colder months set in? If so, do you feel any time constraints or pressure to get underway and make that turn to the south?

We are 'Sloopers' (slow loopers) and doing this over many years - check our last video where we answered all of those questions: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nqeQqmyKitd9f9k

Technomadia is the blog name we came up with 18 years ago when we hit the road. “Tales From Technomadia” since we were technomadically traveling.

Did you replace the radar?
@Technomadia5 ай бұрын
I am very tempted to switch from Garmin to Furuno radar, but for now that project is on the defer list. We tend to avoid conditions where radar is needed.

Like all Equipment...bottom line is "use it or lose it" When it sits without exercise it atrophy's. Just like the human body...you have been neglecting your boat and it's paying you back! Give your boat some loving care, spend time on her....Don't let her become a "Hanger Queen"...lol
@Technomadia5 ай бұрын
We have in no way neglected our boat. She has had regular service, updates and upgrades .. and cruising adventures. While we were based in Sanford for a few years - we were not idle. Including several short monthly cruises and multiple extended cruises. None of the gremlins mentioned are from 'neglect'. The steering pump.. was 25 years old. They are a wear and tear item, and ours was also in regular use (our lower actually failed during our sea trial). The radar? No idea what happened there - but certainly not paying Garmin $1200 to find out. It is only 7 years old, and we also regularly use it to track storms (which Florida has many of.) Oh. and it's 'dock queen', not 'hanger queen'.

Sorry but anyone that lives on the coast kows about the "quiting time" thunderstorms.. 4-5 ocllock everyday there is a good chance of sprinkles to the level you saw. :)
@Technomadia4 ай бұрын
We are very used to and familiar with typical afternoon thunderstorms - they are a great way to cool off. This was a lot more than that. 🤪
