I’ve had the Fold 3 and Fold 4 and grew frustrated with the narrow cover screen on both. I’ve ordered the Open and cannot wait to get it in my hands.

What urks my soul about some bloggers and media about this phone compared to the oneplus open...umm...WE DO REMEMBER THAT THE PURPOSE OF THE OUTSIDE SCREEN ISN'T TO GIVE YOU A BIG SCREEN. ​​@@Oheyjamaicaokay, let me break it down for you. I am a power user, I use my phone all day while I work. It is not conducive for me to walk around with the screen open and unfolded 24/7. I like to have the screen opened when I am at home and in a relaxed area, when I am out eating and want to put it in a kickstand case and watch videos, or to be able to just watch videos when I have downtime in general. I had a Z fold before, and the small front screen just was too difficult to get used to and type on, I literally sold it within 2 months and got an s23 ultra. I know for a lot of you it doesn't matter, but for a lot of us, it does matter regarding that front cover screen. What I don't understand is why some people are offended and upset that the front screen is bigger. They are meeting a market demand that people asked for, so I just don't understand the issue.

OnePlus open is a competitor in the folding device space. Hopefully this forces Samsung to innovate or at least provide better cameras, more storage, accessories with the device.

Love the OnePlus open but has been by far the worst customer service experience. They use 3rd part businesses for the trade in inspections so nothing is in house and I believe that is the same for their customer service team but They tried to say my S23 Ultra I traded In was a locked device whenever it is fully unlocked so they tried to change my trade in value from $800 to $0 and expected me to accept it. Rejected it and got charged the full amount and the trade in team provided them no documentation of it even though I took pictures and videos prior to shipping. Very unfortunate but still decided to keep the phone because of how good it is overall. Definitely the best phone I've ever had just with the customer service was better.

But usually you should be able to track the trade in status under your Orders on the OnePlus account but since day 1 my OnePlus Account shows Nothing under order history so it took 2 calls to CS to even get them to send me my original invoice plus the trade in status link. They stated it's a technical issue but I still can't see anything on their Website so it really does give off a kind of shadier vibe just as far as their CS, company that inspects phones and their communication and website. If the phone wasn't as good as it is I would have already returned it.

I had the Fold 4 and a iPhone 13 Pro Max. I spent 75 percent of my time on my 13pm. But I did enjoy the F4 until the hinge started making noises when I opened it. Then it wouldn’t open all the way. The S23 Ultra came out about then. I just punched out in the folding phones for now. Seeing all of the horror stories on Reddit reaffirms my decision.

I don’t hang out in Reddit so I haven’t seen horror stories but I think that the reliability and durability are fine and should be good for a long time. And… get the insurance and it’s never an issue

I think the biggest problem for OnePlus is the same problem that Google is facing with the Pixel line. For reasons I will never understand people love seeing brands fail. It's like they don't understand that the more competitive the space is the more we benefit. Personally I love my OnePlus Open. My only complaint so far is updates. Right now I'm still on the September security patch. But otherwise it's a great phone.

In Australia I was able to get the Samsung Fold 5 512GB discounted at pre-order, for AUS$1780 / US$1130, the OnePlus Open is AUS$2699 / US$1717, so the OnePlus Open costs AUS$919 / US$585 more here in Oz. So, on price alone, Samsung wins for me, but I'd also worry about lack of customer support with the OnePlus should things go wrong, as well as poor resale values for the Chinese device. The competition will only benefit the market though, and push companies like Samsung to innovate even more, and that can only be a good thing.

(Your video says that it is!) QUESTION: Do you think Oneplus is going to give some "good deals" on the Open during the holiday season? Right now, OnePlus will give me $600 for my Fold 4 so I'm still paying over $900 for a OnePlus Open. despite all the killer things, it's just the in hand feel that kills the oneplus for me. the fold you can pick up and hold however you like, but the oneplus forces you to work around it's form

Interesting, you've held both? Looks to me like the open would be similar in form to a normal smartphone and the zfold looks like it would be cramped on the outside display. But I won't get to hold it for another few weeks so I can't give my thoughts yet (release date is later in Europe)

Well I am an iPhone user. Still have a 12 ProMax. However no multitasking on it that is smooth. I am looking at foldable’s. This OnePlus Open looks great however how is the security features on it and how is multitasking? I still need to research that. I love the split screen on the S23 Ultra when staying away from a foldable. Apple and Samsung have great inscription and security for their phones. Any advice for someone looking to leave the iPhone?

Charging speeds never really bothered me because my fold 4 lasts all day and i charge it overnight. Also the cover display is the right size for what a fold should be. They might make it a bit wider but i personally don't want a full phone sized cover display. My hands aren't the biggest so the display works for me.

I was thinking about trying the Open, but I just see myself returning it. Samsung just solved the problem of having my S pen on me full time; the Open doesn't. I can easily grip my $1800 Z FIRMLY while I'm walking around, and can easily hold it firmly even unfolded while I use the pen. I can top off my Buds and Watch after a workout while still using the cover display. Then there's Dex when I'm working at hotels. And monthly updates, often earlier than Pixels get them (plus I'm already on Android 14). The Open looks great, but it doesn't really offer anything more valuable than I'm getting from the Z...FOR ME. So that's why I've been mulling a trial, but I'm kidding myself that I'd likely switch. 😊

Oneplus is probably a better foldable but very few in the U.S. will buy it at full price. Samsung has the better trade in deals and therefore , will get more business over the Oneplus. Oneplus only offers $320 for a s22 ultra whereas Samsung offers $800 plus. It's a no brainer.

Hundreds of reviews and posts on forums horror stories of trade ins being stolen or devalued and not honoring their advertising with pricing anf trade ins.
