This was the best aloe repotting video I've ever seen. I've watched many videos on the subject because most leave so many unanswered questions but your video was informative and complete (as far as I can tell)! I've never seen the process of cutting off the leaning stem and pulling the bottom leaves. Thank you very much!

For anyone who is trying to make your aloe Vera root here is how to do it:. 1.cut the dead roots (if you have them) 2. Cut the stem to the length you want. 3.let the cuts dry (if you don't and plant it directly you will end up with a decomposing squishy aloe Vera) 4.once dried plant it in soil (in a well draining pot) 5.water it only once a week for the first two weeks. I have myself tried this and trust me now mashallah my aloe Vera plant has beautiful roots

hi. i just cut the stem and placed it so that it gets dry, But after 5 min when i was not around my mother plant it in a pot. I removed it from that pot now and cut a little bit of stem now. I don't know if it will be fine or not. can you please tell for how long will i have to keep it to dry out? also please let me know if my plant is okay or not.

Thank you for this video, it's exactly what I needed! My aloe had about 4 inches of bare stem on most of the individual plants! I literally have to lay it against the window because it doesn't carry it's own weight at all anymore. Now all 5 pieces have been trimmed way down and waiting for calluses to form. Can't wait to replant them and have my old gal back to her former glory :)

Thank you. Good video. I watched many aloe videos years ago and nobody ever mentioned the pot size. If only I knew this I wouldn’t have over 50 pups now because I decided to plant a group of 3 aloe veras into a huge pot together thinking they would grow bigger but instead there was an explosion of pups. 🤣 Time to juice and freeze some pulp then!

This video saved my massawana! Pretty sure it hadn't been watered and hadn't had nearly enough sunlight. It was leggy, leaning heavily and the leaves were hollow and curling from dehydration. This one plant turned into about 15 after I was done cutting and when I put the cuttings in water for a day, they had plumped up a bit, which is when I let them callus over and then planted them. They're looking great so far! Thank you!

Thank you so much for helping me repot an aloe I purchased at a Farmer's Market. I live in an apartment and have my plant sitting on the window sill and she started trying to get out of her pot and has 2 babies. Most videos I find are for repotting one's plants outside in their garden and neglect city apartment dwellers who love plants. Your video was easy to understand, I enjoyed your sense of humor (mixing soils to feel smart) and common sense (started rotting and took them out of the water). This is the most helpful video and I thank you so much! 💞🪴

Thanks for posting your ‘how to’. I’m a little nervous as I just separated 3 large pots of 10 year old Blue Elf Aloe Veras. They’re like old friends.Hope they survive. I brought a few with me that came from 10 year old plants I’d been growing in the ground I potted a few to move from the Phoenix’ desert to temperate forest in NE Blue ridge area. They’ve been prolific houseplants for a decade now. I didn’ know that I’d been propagating/treating them in the garden/yard very similarly to how you do in your video. I had so many growing in the ground I couldn’t keep up. I’d throw cuttings and pups under my giant Bougainvilleas until I could get to them! Lol I was always amazed at how well they survived and reproduced with such great neglect! Anyway, back to the pots. They were pretty narly. The pups are beyond fingerlings size!. I got 3 huge multi leaf cuttings from the mother plants; 2 huge w/ roots; 15 med-large w/ roots; 5 small (8” tall) w/roots. I don’t recommend waiting this long to divide!

Huh. We grow a lot of aloe in our house and around our house because you can easily neglect it and it grows well. I never knew that the roots could be cut like this! That is so cool. Thank you so much for the video. We do have some aloe plants that we put directly in a jar of water and I rinse them every other week and refresh the water. Oddly they keep going. We sort of started that as an experiment and now they've been in the jars for years. However, I will say I did not cut the roots. I dug up the entire plants, roots and all. Thank you so much for all the info in your video. I am going to use the hydration technique, as well as the cutting and cleaning to save my friends aloe which has about 5 aloes hanging over the side of the pot, and another 4 pups all in a 4" pot without any drainage! Based on what you said, I figure it was very dry, bcos I poured 12-16 ozs of water until I could see water at the top of the pot yesterday and to my surprise the soil in the pot was still quite dry today. This evening I poured in another 12+ ozs, and it all disappeared into the pot. I guess the plants are just sucking it all up. I am going to check it tomorrow morning and then use your technique to cut off the hanging parts, hydrate the poor things while in full indirect sunlight, bcos the color of the leaves seems to have improved dramatically in good light, and then let them callus over, before re-potting. Did your plants grow good roots?

I use each of your methods… I had 6 plants growing from one pot, my original aloe was 4 years old and when I tried separating them all I believe there was a lot of root rot but the plants were all thriving so I just did my best, hoping to not lose it😅

Loved this video. Q. After you have re-potted them, how long do you leave them before you water them? And how much water do use?
@TechplantChannel
@TechplantChannel 4 жыл бұрын
i waited like a week or 2, they dont really have roots to suck up a lot of water so I put a very small amount. probably like 1/4 cup right at the base. Even now almost a year later, I still hardly give them 1/2 - 3/4 cup of water right at the base like every 2 weeks

I was taught with succulents that you put in like a C a skewer or toothpick and if soil comes out like a chocolate cake moisture and wait to water it but owls need a little bit more than succulents in my opinion even other similar family
