If pressing M again doesn't show marker dialog box, try Shift + M called (Modify Marker) in keyboard customization. My right ear is lonely. Imagine making DVR tutorials but use a stereo mic and not understand basic audio 101 that dialog belongs on a mono track. Then if spatial audio is desired in a movie or whatever, simply use the pan feature. Obviously if it's a talking head in a tutorial, keep it mono. Sometimes you wonder if content creators actually listen, using headphones with properly functioning ears and brain, to their videos before uploading with headphones. Let's gooo.

I was looking exactly for this! I had been using the marker and manually typing out the KZbin chapter description with the timestamps. Exporting as CSV makes it a lot easier and lesser mistakes :) Thanks a lot!

Save time, use a formula in MS Excel: =MID(I2,4,5) If your RecordIn data is in Column I in your spreadsheet, with the first timestamp in cell I2, then Insert a new column to the right (col J) and paste this command into cell J2 and drag it down. This will remove the Hours and Frames, keeping only the Minutes and Seconds.

Looks like it's been moved within the Edit Index window. Open the Media Pool, open Edit Index, click on the 3 dots in the upper right of the Edit Index window, Export Edit Index is at the bottom

Love the info, super helpful. Maybe this is new, but if you name the markers in DR and then choose Export to KZbin, and check chapters from markers, KZbin will take the marker names and time locations and automatically add them to your video, so you don't have to do all the confusing Excel stuff.

I got it to work! It must start with "00:00" timestamp *and* a chapter title for that timestamp. 🥳

But the next time I opened the same project, for some strange reason the text in the "Name" section of the "Markers" pup up appear in the "Notes" column of the "Edit Index". The "Name" column shows the name of the source file. Other times when I open the project it does not appear at all either in Name or Notes column. If that's the case, it also does not appear on export in the CSV file. What am I doing wrong? DaVinci Resolve Studio 18 (paid version), Edit Index is filtered by Blue Markers. Thanks!

I was struggling with this,,, I don't have excel but I was able to use the free Open Office but it took a while to figure out that it was an option that had to be check which was separate by comma's.. everything worked out good after that.. besides I had more deleting to do and forgot the first 00 time code

Thanks for the helpful video. A friendly suggestion: Next time you use a mic for your voice, make sure it is panned center in your audio mix. In this video you mic for your voice is panned more in the left ear and less in the right ear. Cheers!

Thanks for the video! Using the current version, it appears we can export directly from the Index version, which is nice. It also seems to work regardless of whether the Macro is added when the video is selected. Question: do you know how to embed the markers into an mp3 file? I hear it is supported, but I can't find a way to do that within DaVinci.

I've been exploring this option and I thought Resolve could already do this. When you go to "Deliver", there is an option to add Chapter Markers to the export in the Video tab. I thought this would add the required metadata for KZbin to pick up automatically, effectively not needing to do the CSV/export portion? Can someone clarify? I guess I can test this out as soon as I am done with my video Either way, very helpful and informative video, for sure! Thanks!

Yeah, I think this feature was just recently added. But as far as I understand, it only works if you use the KZbin preset which I don't use because the render quality is pretty substandard, IMO

I tried it and selected the 2160p option on the preset and I think it looks just as good but again, that's subjective. Either way, loved the video and it helped me not only with this specific issue but also think of other ideas. Thanks again for your time on this project!

Oh my dear! I thought making chapter markers in DaVinci Resolve is some black magic (pun intended), while in fact it is disappointingly simple-minded. If you watch your own KZbin video, you can just type in the times in the video description, done.

Lol, yeah. The reason I use markers in Resolve is because I add them while editing the video. It saves me from having to watch the video yet again after it's uploaded (by which time I'm damn tired of it!)

In fact, my use case is somewhat different as I have a ~2.5-hour Zoom recording of a workshop that I did not participate in, so I had to watch it anyway. So in that case, markers in DaVinci Resolve do not help much. (I did some trimming, audio adjustment, etc. with DaVinci Resolve nevertheless.)
