These are my favourite smartphones for shooting photos and video, offering slick camera experiences and results. I've tested them all, from that Samsung S24 Ultra to the Honor Magic 6 Pro, Xperia 1 V and Huawei P60 Pro - and you can expect more hot smartphones to launch soon in 2024!

Google's flagships are still two of the best camera devices for shooting great looking family photos. The Pixel 8 Pro and regular version can capture slick pics day or night, while the 7a is great on a tighter budget. If you're more into video, check out the iPhone 15 Pro Max or Samsung's Galaxy S24 series, especially the Samsung S24 Ultra. And Xiaomi's latest 14 series phones are ideal for camera lovers, especially the Xiaomi 14 Ultra with its expert video controls.
Last year's Huawei P60 Pro is still easily one of the best camera phones in 2024, although the lack of Google services will put many punters off. And if you like DSLR style Pro controls, check out the Sony Xperia 1 V.

As an iOS user who came from a Pixel 6 Pro to an iPhone 13 Pro Max and now using a 15 Pro Max I have to say I am not massively impressed with any iPhone cameras. The OS and ecosystem for me feels far more premium than any other device I’ve used, but it amazes me that my Pixel 6 Pro from a couple of years ago is still a better choice for photography than the current top-spec iPhone.

I've just come back from Hong Kong and the Camera Kit comes as a free gift with the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. 44:45 Not sure whether that's the local or the global version mind but even then. And its cheaper... Swear to God sometimes we get done proper like a kipper here in the UK.

the p60 pro telephoto punches way beyond what it suggests on paper. Out of about 5000 photos that I've taken with the phone probably 4000 are with the telephoto as I simply can't find any compromise with it. A big reason for not using the main camera as much really is how wide angle it is as I have to be way too close to something to bring out the best it can do.

I am a oneplus user. And most of my friends use iphone not the latest one though.. 14 being the latest one. One young girl use pixel 6a and people were impressed with the photo quality even the iPhone user. It's rare in our region using pixel phone they soon started developing interest in pixel phone. Some of my friends don't know pixel phone. Even me I like the outcome of photos from pixel. I am someone who is more focused on gaming performance so pixel is big no for me but the impression that leave behind is astonishing.

You got a camera comparison vid like this one for budget phones? I've been looking for a new phone but nothing fits the bill. Just 2 of my criteria literally rule out about 75% of my options in the UK: fast charging (min 50W) and no miui/hyperOS. A bunch of remaining phones are then eliminated by my budget of around £300 I tried the oppo find x5 (non-pro), it was great in some ways, underwhelming in others. I took photos with it side by side with my older, cheaper poco f3 and at times the F3 produced objectively better photos! Given one of the main reasons I was upgrading was because of cameras, I gave the oppo back. Oneplus might have 1-2 phones that fit my bill (I've looked and I'm pretty sure there was something that I disliked about them, can't remember what tho), there's the nothing phone (meh), and... That's about it

@@mxxxnmxxxs4313 s24 ultra is good but I think pixel 8 pro is better value for money, the main sensors are basically the same size (which is the thing that actually matters) and it has a more balanced overall camera system being all similar resolutions unlike the s24 ultra's inconsistency. The camera app itself on the pixel is also more user friendly in my opinion and the fun AI features of the pixel match the s24 ultra. In my country Australia, the pixel retails for 1349 while the s24 ultra starts at a whopping 2199 AUD. Most people would prefer the pixel look over the s24 ultra anyway too.
