Jonathan, in Tecumseh carburetors there can be one or two check valves in the carb between the fuel inlet barb and the carb. Crankcase pressure enters the carb through a hole and the movement of fuel between the check valves and carb is dependent on the crankcase cycle. It/they are integral in the proper functioning of the carb and you may have damaged them with the compressed air. When you source new barbs they come with different check valves already installed or open and in need of check valve insertion.

Thanks man, this is good to know. I did get peculiar behavior trying to blow air thru and didn't understand why. The good news is the saw runs real good so I guess I got lucky. I also have an ultrasonic cleaner now.. long overdue, so I'll be using that going forward. Thanks for info ..there's not much out there on these

Hey Jonathan, great job on the carb! I am at the point myself and your video did help with the unknown ground of rebuilding the same carb.I was able to find a OEM kit on eBay and it does look to have all that you replaced. Hope my goes as smooth 😊

I left out the part about the rubber pulse balloon in the big hole in the carb. Don't lose it and check to hold suction. It's not a valve turns out. Good luck!
