An excellent discussion and learning opportunity here, thankyou. Very interesting and informative. 👍🏻 I imagine the low numbers of likes and so on, is probably a compliment, to be blunt. Many people are only interested in hearing about the grisly details. Great work! Appreciate it 🙏

I started learning about psychopaths, sociopaths and Narcissits because I am very empathic and feel so much for people and want to help people that actually got taken advantage of. One person was a 19 year old who portrayed himself to be a trans homeless youth where I was voluteering. I felt so sorry for him/her I offered to let him/her stay with me for a couple of days. Wow, talk about entitlement. I couldn't believe how this kid behaved. Then I had a creepy/scary experiance at my 70 year old friend's house where this 31 year good looking young man was hanging out with me a 4 70 year olds. When I actually met him. He stood up stared me in the face with the coldest most blank stare I have ever seen. He then walked around me without a word. Then he came back and sat down and blended right in and talking like nothing. Jekel and Hyde. I observed him. He spoke all about himself and every story was either how he was a hero or a victim. He had just gotten out of jail recently as well. It seemed to me he was targeting the 70 year women. My friend had dogs, one of which was super friendly with everyone, except when it came to this guy she would not go near him and growled at him. I have never seen that dog act that way towards anybody. I know this guys was a Narcissit for sure but wondering if he was a psychopath as well. I warned my friend that she needed to stay away from him. He was not safe.

There's an interesting series of interviews on KZbin with one of Bundy's law professor's from when he was going to school in Utah. The professor mentions that Ted stopped going to class to the point where he was not going to be able to take the final exam but managed to convince the other law faculty that he should be allowed to take it. The other faculty members discussed it with the professor and Ted took the exam. Another example of Bundy using his superficial charm and manipulation to get what he wanted.

And Ted went to Utah retaking the FIRST year he had already done in Seattle. He should have aced all those classes.

What is truly scary about these individuals is that they can typically deceive most people, even cops, judges, and psychiatrists.

Passages Treatment Program(1990-2000)in Eugene, Oregon was a Psychopath finishing school. Graduation involved some truly horrific acts several of which would be its downfall. Three deaths caused by clients in the program, men I knew, eventually resulted in its half a million a year funding being pulled. Just one of the State of Oregons buried and soon to be forgotten dirty secrets. I was circuit court ordered, sanctioned into the program, I haven’t forgotten.

I am listening to this interesting conversation again, but 3 yrs after it was posted. What is the TB documentary to which you refer in the first 10 min or so of the podcast? Is this the interview with Dobson just before execution? So very many interesting insights in a variety of ways. Thank you, all.

Very interesting! I watched A British Horror Story , Jimmy Saville, on Netflix , last night. The ability to dupe the whole British population , with portraying himself as a philanthropist , and total charmer Our obsession with celebrity & charming men, plays a massive part in his ability to get away with these crimes for so long.. . Watching the tapes, you can see the slips, the under lying rage, gas lighting .

I thought Ted Bundy’s grandfather was violent and Ted thought he was his dad for the first 4.5 years of his life.

Several different sources mention the fact that when Bundy would go into his dissociation state and start reliving his crimes his striking blue eyes would go black. Please explain this phenomenon medically.

Pupils dilate when someone is sexually charged - if the memories excited him they could get larger. I used to work in a store and I KNEW a man was going to wait for others to leave and try to get me alone to make a pass at me if his pupils dilated larger when he was looking at me.

Would be beneficial to have a female voice in this conversation, especially because his victims were female.

I agree it's not a mental illness because of the calculation. I personally believe it should be relabeled "predatory behavior disorder".

Someone raised the issue of preferring to think it wasn't volition but I stead the murders took place because TB had a brain tumor. Question: were there any CT or other scans done prior to the execution, or any autopsy of the brain after? I am not trying to be morose but there are perhaps things we could have learned from these types of analyses since he was an extreme narc, with macheavelian and anti-social tendencies, and a clear psycopath.

How do we know that Ted wasnt lying when he said he practiced in his cell? Why dont we think he lied? He also said he ran a distance in his cell, the documentary shows a pretty small and cluttered jail cell to run around in. Am I missing some information?

We know he was training by the books from his lawyers wrote and stories guards told about watching him. Even Ann Rule wrote about it too. I doubt he ran, more like did squats and stuff like that to protect himself from that fall.

A lot of engaged ,superficial talk, lacking any real understanding and knowledge about the human being. Disappointing and boring. "We understand his pathology and what is going on" while not understanding.. TB is not considered mentally ill (which ought to be called soully, psychically ill since he had childhood trauma. How could osmeone like he not be soully ill?) If someone is so devoid of real soul life with feelings and empathy, of course he is going to try to get soul substance and experiences, fake contact with others. Humans need contact.
