My mom used to bring me to this church, and the world prayer center attached. I've sat in that office of his, and always had negative instinct about him. His followers were so delusional. During a service someone leaned over to me and said "isn't this just incredible?" I responded with "yeah the cost of the light show and fog machines and large band could've been put towards helping people in need." They then accused me of not understanding God.

I can't see how any "evangelical" can be a true Christian; Jesus never walked around Jerusalem or Rome in sharp expensive Roman fashion, preaching that you must obey the 600+ mitzvot, asking for donations, then going home to a large gated villa with security that keeps the poor out. That would be the "evangelical" Jesus. If one of these "evangelicals" lived in Roman times, they would tell Jesus "get a job you lazy bum". I doubt any of them sincerely believe, it's all about the coin imo. Some of the prosperity gospel preachers even admitted they were all about making money, and fools still believe in them.

@@mikesully110 I completely agree. Evangelicals are terrifying, terrible people justifying themselves with quotes they like from the Bible. But they never apply it to themselves. They don't live or portray any compassion. Just entitlement.

You make a good point. Everyone sins, and no one is perfect. However, there are some sin weaknesses that make people unfit to be a pastor of a church. If someone has sin weaknesses in areas such as adultery, rape, child abuse, domestic violence, lying, cheating, stealing, being a bad parent, etc, they're not fit to be a pastor of a church.

What Ted did aside, and not sure what his ministry taught so not commenting there, if he really sought forgiveness/repentance is between him/God, I have a lot of issues with how the church handled the situation. As I understand in the Bible, Paul rebuked a church for banishing a member for some really evil acts even after he had fully repented of his sins. I know that according to the Bible, Ted is unable to maintain a pastoral role and anything higher than probably an usher, but to banish him completely from his own congregation after he sought amends, that bothered me. It did seem like he got a little "drunk on the fame" which is hard to see at the moment but it is easy in retrospect. Ultimately I felt the worst for his wife and kids especially who were victims of his misdeeds and it was made worse by the actions of the church leaders too. Also, credit to the producer for being respectful of the situation and what was going on and telling it like it is. That is hard to see these days, especially in documentaries about churches. And the use of Moby Natural Blues was a nice touch too =)

Well from a Christian point of view we should hope this man truly repents from his sin and turns to God for forgiveness. At the end of the day if he repents and turns from his sin there is no reason why we should condemn him to hell. We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. God’s mercy and forgiveness is given to those who truly seek him with a broken and repented heart. If that’s his case then praise God. If he is still struggling with homosexual tendencies then I hope he can overcome his struggles before it is too late.

Bernard, certain behaviors bring about disqualification. Let me give you some examples. 1)Moses hit the rock instead of speaking to it, as directed by God. 2) David desperately wanted to build God a temple, but God said no because he had too much blood on his hands. This guy was forgiven if he asked to be, but he should not step foot in a pulpit and definitely he should never be a pastor again

I’m glad his wife stayed with him and worked on the relationship. The letter in which he outed himself was an act of courage and repentance. If the apostle Paul were alive today, there would’ve been some form of discipline, but there also would’ve been reconciliation upon confession and repentance. This man was convicted in his heart, and he confessed and came clean. It’s too bad people don’t realize that they’re just very blessed and privileged not to maybe struggle with a deep sin or mental illness. But petty mean misses just a sin as much as anything else. And we’re not talking about a guy who flee his flock for millions or raped young girls. I think they should be more forgiving. 17:03

Well, that’s what I get not being able to write on my phone and having to dictate it to Siri. And voiceover. Why is it? The church seems to forgive the wrong people? I mean Mike Biddle and Rick what the heck was his name Rick somebody Had their scandals too and people were just take them back even if they don’t repent. Here’s a guy who’s taking it on the chin. Doing the best he can scripturally. He didn’t have to out himself, but he did. He confessed. This is disgusting. I noticed the video is called the Megachurch scandal, not the Ted Haggard scandal. Because this is scandalous behaviour on the part of the church. 39:48

He never really took responsibility for his actions. He was so obsessed with the fact that his former church wouldn't forgive him. I'm sure they gave him chance after chance after...but he continued to minimize and lie, then change the story. I'm sure they simply got tired not only at the utter seediness of his acts, but that he kept going back to it and lying about it. The worst is that he doesn't seem to grasp the idea of being Christ-like toward all, especially to the gay community that has suffered so much bigotry and there's Ted, still spewing his hatred.

I actually felt a lot of compassion for this man and his family watching this. Just being a HUMAN BEING sets you up to be fallible. He screwed up. Was a hypocrite. Lived a double standard. His "fall" has nothing to do with being Evangelical. It had more to do with being a Human being who gave into temptation and then kept it covered. The awesome thing is that Jesus Christ forgives anyone who confesses and repents. Luke 12:3, 1John 1:9, Ephesians 4:32. Thanks for sharing this. Wish Ted Haggard and his family all the very best.

I actually feel bad for Ted after watching this. As Christians we're not supposed to judge people, and to be a strong support system when they slip on the path. This church just turned him away and offered no forgiveness, no chance for redemption, and one day they will be standing before the good Lord and having to answer for that.
