Derek is probably THE MOST underrated rock vocalist of all time. He's not underrated to those of us who are fans but he just never got the recognition he so deserved. Even though in this performance they tuned down a half or a whole step to a lower key, Derek still has it.
@DizzyBizzy88 Жыл бұрын
Tuning down 1/2 step here was almost certainly not to accommodate Derek, in that as of 2023, Derek's band still tunes to std. pitch for his solo artist live shows (where, of course, he does many Nugent songs that he originally sang). Ted's band started tuning down 1/2 step quite a while back (1995 or maybe earlier) when Ted unfortunately decided to be the primary lead singer. Will say I always loved Ted's primal screams...but not his singing!

YUP.. Derek has an unmistakable unique voice. Queen of the forest is one of my favorite Nugent tunes. Saw Derek solo a few times. One time he was supposed to open up for Trower but Ds bus was caught in the snow Just outside of Buffalo. He got to the Penny arcade at 1 o’clock in the morning, there was literally four people left in the club, it was a Sunday night, and a blizzard. He played his balls off! Great Dude!🤘🇺🇸💪

I think so. In my opinion, Nugent's music took a major dive southbound after Derek left the band. Charlie Huhn was a good singer and even sounded like Derek, but the songs on "Weekend Warriors", "State of Shock", and "Scream Dream" weren't that good, plus the production on those albums was terrible. Made me wonder if Derek wrote most of the tunes for the albums he was a part of. I know for sure that his voice was greatly missed.

Do you think I was gonna lay down my guitar and go play army? Give me a break!" And he admits to shitting and pissing himself in this interview. "Then two weeks before, I stopped eating any food with nutritional value. I just had chips, Pepsi, beer-stuff I never touched-buttered poop, little jars of Polish sausages, and I’d drink the syrup, I was this side of death, Then a week before, I stopped going to the bathroom.
