The gent spends 11.5 minutes lecturing everyone on why web accessibility matters, including several minutes surveying on whether a disabled person would rather use an accessible doorway or an inaccessible one. Then he gives just one single actual tip for improvement. Then out. Holy man. I sometimes audit websites for accessibility issues and he could have easily given 15 valuable tips in 5 minutes without rushing through them. I don't think the issue is that people cannot comprehend the point. I think it's that they have no clue what to do. And many are preoccupied putting out site business fires daily.

​​@@TiffanyDesign Welp, I disagree with your disagreement :) I know of a handful of work places giving priority to this issue on their projects becuase you know... common human response to unfortanate circumstances is quite compassionate in most cases. Seems like the talker, however - likes to presents awarness to problems, instead of solving them🤷‍♀️

I would actually put out that a combination of the doors would be best. When his put up the two pictures. I would have said the white doors, as my issue is with sight. I didn’t even realize that the black doors were sliders, due to low contrast. So I would suggest the functionality of the black doors, and the white color of the other doors.

Agreed I would have the same problem identifying which one was automatic. I don't always need a cane, but the daily roulette of guessing sliders versus manual doors struggle is real.

Many websites also are fail badly on a computer set in dark mode or extra large default font. It is not hard to have themes to quickly check these

Free idea: QR codes. Cameras can see many things we can not. What if every web page had a QR code that took you to an audio file that spoke to you? Even people like me that can see, but like to listen more than scan the pages of text would get some use from this. QR codes and a smart camera, spy phones (they are not smart but they can spy!) I even used my phone to scan text and it spoke it all to me. So scanners on phones that can use a camera are already in use. People need to hear this.

That makes sense for a website visited on a computer but not on a mobile device. Can’t scan a QR code if the only way to scan it is the thing displaying the code in the first place.

You don't really have to invent anything here. This wouldn't much help. Follow the standards and believe me that this is not needed. There are dozens of in depth resources nowadays.

How is a person who can't see going to scan the QR code? How are they supposed to know where to point their smartphone's camera? By the way, blind people use screen readers to access anything on a computer or a smartphone. The screen reader does much more than reading the screen from top to bottom; it includes many shortcuts, for example for jumping for interactive element to interactive element, or from heading to heading, or from landmark to landmark etcetera. An audio file as an alternative to the web page can't provide this functionality. In addition, performing OCR on a webpage would only provide access to the visible content and not to text alternatives for images, for example.

Internet websites or any social media platforms are not government or world leaders itself, they should be stand non-discriminatory ,if website permission decided on the based of skin colour? or disability ,? Or base on gender ?what is the logic behind it ?sad and discriminated act ,.. agreed , It is better to follow a rule in real life than to make it only on piece of paper.
