It is quite interesting presentation, it is a new approach to practice at work, and it really changes the view to the problem nature for sure. Her backhanded jab at straight people is totally inappropriate & extremely unprofessional. WTF is going with Ted lately? They've gone completely off the high standards they used to have. Just put the information out & keep the gay agenda to yourselves. It's distracting & annoying. I don't see straight people using their sexual orientation to highlight the information they put out. I probably speak for lots of people when I say that I have nothing against gays. But announcing your sexual preferences publicly & often is unnecessary. It's private - keep it that way. Do you see straight people doing this at the same rate? Do you think you are above the rules of normal social conduct? Do you actually think anyone cares if you're gay? Why are you doing this? Do you expect special treatment?

What exactly was the jab? Straight people don't need to announce they're straight because it's assumed to be the default, if most people looked at someone they didn't know, the assumption would be that they were straight until they are given information otherwise. She made two references to her sexuality, when mentioning that she works with her wife in the area relevant to her talk, and as an example of opposite demographics who could speak to each other to learn about communicating with people with different lived experiences, both points were completely relevant to her talk. The only 'agenda' anyone in the LGBTQIA+ sphere has is to exist with the same opportunities and respect as anyone else, but if your immediate response to hearing that someone is 'other' in some way, is 'nothing against you but I don't want to see that' then you do have a problem because you only approve of them when you don't actually have to see and acknowledge that they exist.
