Quick note: people did preserve lands for thousands of years, most of the time they are religious sites, usually considered “sacred land”. Sure, no one did it with the bureaucratic(non-derogatory) and entirely land based reason for preserving land, but preserving the land itself as it is has been here longer than Israel has been a country in the ancient times. Great video tho 👍🏼

I like Shane, his attempts to share history are awesome. I have 50 years of digging through some of the stuff. His overall knowledge base is a little shallow. He ends up repeating things that are myth more than history. It's not his fault myths are often taught. They are however still in accurate. For example the Sherman tank wasn't a bad tank. We lost tons of the vehicles but the vast majority of the crews survived. The casualties in all theaters for American Armored units were less than 2k. It was never called a Rosin after the lighter. That advertising campaign didn't occur until after the war. My suggestion to any and all is to learn the history of the history learn about the people who write the stories and what has shaped them. It is fascinating and will explain why myths show up.

Maybe there were bad doctors, but medicine had progressed to the point that Lincoln would've survived IF he'd been treated by a military surgeon. What did him in was a doctor poking around in his brain trying to dig out the bullet instead of leaving it alone, and the military surgeons knew what to do. It's like hearing about brain surgery in ancient times -- those patients survived, and that's what's wild. The idea Lincoln should've survived (he prolly would've had deficits, but he'd've grown old... or, until lead poisoning did him in).
