Yeah, thats a pretty tough call. Both the Submariner and the Explorer are iconic to their categories (Dive and Field). Personally I prefer the Explorer, but I can understand why most people would choose the Submariner.

Surprised the Seiko Urushi lacquer watch dial wasn't mentioned the SARX029. Knot watches the Raden uses the Japanese tradition of applying lacquer "Urushi" creates a rich dark black.

I often choose green in my watches as a change from black in my sports watches . From pistachio to seaweed colour dials, they go with my combat trousers and Dr Martens boots . Perhaps you could go green but it is usually a side option , rather than design so white dials may be the obvious colour to look into .

For Seiko, Love the King Turtle, but currently, I think the SPB453 (62MAS) is the best “black dial” Seiko currently. For Omega, I would have loved to see the Black lacquer dial Aqua Terra.
