Decades after the fall of the Third Reich, it feels impossible to understand how Adolf Hitler, the tyrant who orchestrated one of the largest genocides in human history, could ever have risen to power in a democratic country. So how did it happen, and could it happen again? Alex Gendler and Anthony Hazard dive into the history and circumstances that allowed Hitler to become Führer of Germany.
Lesson by Alex Gendler and Anthony Hazard, animation by Uncle Ginger.

This is a good summary, however the role of France and England in forcing war reparations upon Germany - as if Germany were solely responsible for WWI - and redistributing German colonies amongst themselves, should not be ignored. In contrast, the US President Wilson behaved far more responsibly, refusing to take over German colonies.

No wonder Star Wars considered fear to be the biggest obstacle on the path to becoming the best version of yourself. Fear can be manipulated more easily than any other emotion and when paired with anger, you'll have destruction.

Tbh, star wars was mostly having its tale based off these events. The Vietnam Forest Attacks, Storm Troopers, Hux,/Hitler's Announcements, and Movements for Resistance and Resolution were based off these events. The moral also was reminiscent to this dark past

@@SohamAnand-dp8he Actually you are not quite correct. Star wars is based on Dune novels and Dune has a very big focus on fear and its effects. One of the most popular dialogue in dune is "I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear." George Lucas based the Star wars movies on these novels and that's how the themes came in.

Growing up as a German kid in 1945 during the final days of WWII was surreal and terrifying. I remember hiding in the basement with my family as the air raids shook our entire town. The adults spoke in hushed tones about the front lines getting closer, and we could hear distant explosions that seemed to inch closer every day. My father had been away fighting, and we hadn’t heard from him in months. My friends and I would play in the rubble of bombed-out buildings, not fully understanding the gravity of the destruction around us, but knowing deep down that our world would never be the same. I remember when the Allied soldiers marched into our town. There was a strange mix of fear and relief; we were scared of what might happen, but we also knew the war was finally over. Food was scarce, and we had to make do with whatever we could find. My mother traded her wedding ring for a loaf of bread, and I’ll never forget the sadness in her eyes when she handed it over. Even after the war ended, it felt like we were living in the shadow of what had happened. The stories we heard about the concentration camps, the devastation across Europe, and the loss of so many lives were impossible to fully comprehend as a child. It was a time of rebuilding and coming to terms with the truth, as we tried to figure out what our future could look like in a country that had been left in ruins.

Canada is considered to be a socialist country by American standard due to our "free" health care, and we have the same living standard as Americans - arguably even better knowing that you don't have to stress if your health fails. Also, how can you argue that Bernie is a fascist when he wants nothing to do with the military? Bernie is not the guy who suggested to bring back water boarding, nor propose to torture and kill civilians associated with terrorists, nor suggest carpet bomb to raze entire cities, nor ban Muslims nor suggest to INTERN them. Bernie is a peace loving tree hugger, arrested in his younger days for a rally he genuinely support. Do you even know what fascism is? Sure, Bernie wants "more" government control, but that's only to allocate the resources of the USA and invest it in healthcare, education and ultimately the American people.

not quite... "Sturmabteilung" translates to "Stormdivision or Stormsection". "Sturmtruppen" (the literal translation of Stormtroopers) were actual German units that fought during WW1. They were elite units specifically trained to storm enemy fortifications...hence the name...They were used to great effect on the eastern Front (especially by Generalfeldmarschall August von Mackensen - the famous "Last Hussar") they weren't as effective on the western Front, although Erwin Rommel did break through the French lines at Chemin des Dames with the use of Stormtroopers units and his Royal Württemberg Mountaineer ("Königlich Württembergisches Gebirgskorp") troops... although he eventually had to fall back because his supply lines were in danger, as the rest of the imperial army hadn't been able to keep up...

The emperor - Wh40k they joined the military to “defend” their country (even though they are sent to fight bogus wars to protect Israel). Without them, Americans would be defenseless and as the single most powerful free nation in the world, America especially needs a strong army. Anyways, when they come back, they would most likely have PTSD and it is incredibly hard to get a job if you are mentally ill. And many people like employers (or you) have biases against vets for doing their job. They have already done their duty and should of course continue to serve the country but they have to be helped getting back on their feet. The people owe them that much.

Shan Oakley Is it because I used the word "globalist"? Political ideologues who want to create a world with no borders, where people can and are encouraged to live wherever they want, who want to disavow the very existence of racial and ethnic groups and are ready to undermine the existing social and cultural cohesive structures that keep societies together and in harmony; these people are globalists. And their ideology is mad and dangerous. It goes counter to human nature. Their staunch refusal to accept the truth and stubborn insistence on their ideologies will only serve to plunge the world into chaos, and in the case of Europe also irreversibly destroy our very identity and people by importing foreign elements who share none of our values but want all the fruits of our civilisation. This is the political ideology that pervades, indeed poisons the political elite in the world today; it is the world view that Hillary and her kind support; it is the world view that thinks the only antidote to racism is to destroy all manifestation of different races of human beings by no more subtle tool than total miscegenation and the negation of over 2000 years of magnificent history.

I am watching this from the year 2023 and I think every American needs to see this video NOW. Our republican party became a post-democracy institution in 2021. And we are on the exact path to becoming a fascist country in 2025 as they describe in this video with the big orange man as they were in Germany with the Austrian painter

Look at what Time magazine published. America is no longer a free country. Trump was the last chance and the corporate establishment cheated, changed the rules, censored facts and made sure he and no one like him will ever get into power again.

Never have I heard statement so true, so beyond question, so factually accurate that my pupils dilate, I start physically sweating. The realization that my favorite news sources like Time and WaPo were around during this same time period to chronicle it all accurately and without bias or agenda makes me coom buckets as well, friend.

These ones were born out of bread lines, poverty, and inflation of currency due to excessive government debt to foreign countries. Most people in Germany lost their savings because the German mark lost all value due to the democratic government printing too much money, it makes sense that they’d turn to the man saying he’ll fix everything.

@@GlucoseGarbage There were 2 left wing parties in the Weimarer Republic. The KPD(Communist Party Germany) and the SPD(Socialist Party Germany). They hated each other, because the SPD was part of the Weimarer Coalition, which conservative parties were also a part of. "they just agree that his way is awfully similar to something we all remember." - than that is their problem. And I have no idea who actually remembers anything from those times. Most people comparing him to Hitler were not alive during WW2. History rarely repeats itself even though in unclear moments such as these certain groups come out to warn us about history repeating itself. It is really easy to make a posteriori claims once the dust has settled and make it seem how clear it all was. During the events, things are seldom as clear as some make them out to be after the events.
