It’s a common saying that elephants never forget. But the more we learn about elephants, the more it appears that their impressive memory is only one aspect of an incredible intelligence that makes them some of the most social, creative, and benevolent creatures on Earth. Alex Gendler takes us into the incredible, unforgettable mind of an elephant.
Lesson by Alex Gendler, animation by Avi Ofer.

I have a real story on an elephant. I live in Kerala , India and here there are lots of elephants. Both wild and domestic. Domestic once mainly used for temple festivals. In a festival with many elephants there a keshavan( male elephant). One crazy man throws a stone on him and man ran away. It's hurt the elephant he taken that stone and kept it with him for many years. Years passed away one day in a festival place elephant saw that man and he give it back to him.

I feel pity after watching the video. At first I thought it was a pity for such an intelligent and sympathetic animal not able to change the world and live a convenient life as we do. But then I realized I should feel sad for humans, because though we are smart and creative, we don't use our intelligence to make the world better; though we're sympathetic, we don't always have the willingness or courage to stand for the disadvantaged, the voiceless or even people we love. What a pity.

Elephants are so amazing. My mom absolutely loves them and has a big shelf in her house dedicated to elephant stuff like figurines and elephants carved from stones, wood, etc. Our family took a trip to Nepal a few years ago and my mom got a chance to ride one and I don't think I've ever seen her that happy. She was laughing the whole time. Even when it got close to the water and took a drink and then shot it out through it's trunk at her face, she had the biggest smile on.

I saw a study recently that showed that elephants' brains light up (when looked at during an FMRI) when they see humans, the same way humans' brains light up when we see cute puppies and kittens!! So apparently elephants see us as adorable little creatures and when they see us they think the same "awww" as we do when we see cute little things! So cool!

Not sure what event you're referring to, but one elephant is one elephant the same way one human is one human. Just because one of them did something 'bad' doesn't mean they represent the whole species. Plus someone said that the elephant was taking revenge, so if that's the case this just demonstrates how the video got ot right.

@Earl Gray Your TDS pushed you to lie and deceive didn't it Mr. Gray? You posted a PuffPiece from 2017 w/o mentioning that Pres. Trump didn't support the reversal & in fact spoke out strongly against elephant poaching. But you couldn't be bothered to mention any of that in your hate screed against the family instead misleading people on here. Now it's going to be up to each country on a case by case basis. Pres. Trump even called it a horror show even though his sons are in fact hunters who did not break any laws. You also left out the fact that the Obama administration did not follow proper procedures in issuing the ban. www.nbcnews.com/politics/white-house/reversal-trump-administration-won-t-ban-import-african-elephant-trophies-n854121 Oy Vey in deed Mr. Gray.

Once at a fair my mom saw a female elephant (she loves elephants) and she was clearly thirsty. She spent her entire day going back and forth between the elephant and a water point with a bucket to give water to the elephant. Three years later she saw her again, her owner has changed (she was way better treated... even if she sould be in nature) and when she saw my mom she litteraly petted her whith her trunk... The owner told my mom "Ha, you've been nice to her in the past" These animals are so wonderful...

I gather that my English is not good so I'll say the thing I thought without 100% grammar correctly, please give me sympathy. I'm an animal person, I really love animals including elephants. My country has a song which is composed about elephants. When I was a little kid, I always cried when my mother turn on that song because they are so piteous. This video gives me a chance to recondition my childhood, I experience a pang of nostalgia when I recall my childhood time. Thanks for the helping vocabulary.
