Old guys complaning that there is no good music anymore. I am sick of it. Rusted heads that only listen to music from their time. I am 52 and I discover every week fantastic bands. Music is not death except on the radio. You tube is full of good music. This is one of those phantastic examples. Really first class music. Such a full sound, with the blazers, the organ. Vocals and guitar are just heavenly, but don't want to forget to mention that the whole band ist just fantastic. Bass player, back ground vocals. Just beautiful.

You are right on my levels. Music is dead on regular radio stations. I asked for several different requests for songs they simply just don’t play and you will never hear because it’s all computer downloaded certain songs. Not like the old days where the sea of any song could be played on radio. It’s truly sad that decades of beautiful great music is wiped out of standard radio. I agree that this band is a breath of fresh air and Susan’s vocals with Derek’s guitar genius along with the rest is heavenly. I did tell the DJ that I would buy a 4 TB storage so they could upload songs they’re never going to play anymore, ever and it’s a disgrace. She didn’t take that comment to well. I spoke my mind and the truth with no regrets.

I consider this one of the best songs of the past 20+ years. I prefer the old Derek Trucks band and the early TTB but cannot make any complaints of such an outstanding group and people. FYI, Mike does his own version of this beauty, much different than TTB’s. He must be a fantastic guy to go from lead to backup with such outstanding talent. But clearly he is much more and Derek & Susan likely treat him as gold.

As sacrilegious as it may sound to ABB purists, DT left Skydog behind awhile ago, although if he lived to be even as old as Derek was then, let alone to be as old as Gregg was at death, we'd be amazed. Duane was just beginning to delve into jazz when he died.

I stood and was carried from the brim of Hell and upward to the edge of Heaven in a splint second, and I have never seen it since, til now, I saw the ABB in many varied venues, Duane led that group of boys, never seen it since, til now, at young fella Derek, he makes me cry, just like Duane did, sorry if that offends any of you, I have seen Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Peter Green, and a list of Blues players that would burn ya ass BB, Buddy Guy, and others that have gone on, Duane was the first one to make me fall down for the Blues, but apparently the end is far more than come, for here is Derek Trucks, a great musician and human being to come to the table, folks he carries a load of Blues in his pocket, jus like Duane did, and you ought to LISTEN, and that gal, Susan, she got a set of pipes that I can only, mama pls, compare to the late and phenomenal Bessie Smith, she ain't bad on the guitar, and what can you say about the band, congrats to you mates.... I never thought there could be a piece of music that is perfect well I was wrong. This here is as close to perfect as you can get. The Band, Derek, and Susan hit it no doubt about it. You can never tire of this song it makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up.This Band if not the best is pretty close to it. Derek can make the guitar sing like no other, and Susan has the voice of an angel. The Band just brings it all together as if twelve members are playing as one. It's just damn good. I have the pleasure of seeing them in Youngstown, Ohio in July what a time it will be. Tedeschi Trucks Band you are simply the Best.
@nmk12267 жыл бұрын
I had taken note of Derek Trucks some years back because he played with the Allman Brothers Band. I never really gave him much thought one way or the other as far as a guitarist. I knew that he had to be good to have been playing with Gregg Allman for all those years, but I never paid any attention to his abilities as a guitarist, per se’. Then I began to see him different places, on stage with different artists and everyone would always refer to him with such deference that I began to sit up and take notice. When I finally paid attention I quickly became a fan. I have always been a huge Clapton fan, still am. Clapton plays with an intensity like no one else. Sometimes it is as if his fingers are flying so fast they will burn up the strings. Clapton forces the guitar to places almost beyond its capability. Derek Trucks plays with a lot of that same focused intensity, but he also shows a different facet to his playing, in that he seems to sort of finesse the guitar to bring forth the sounds that he seeks. Anyway, that is how I hear it. He is a very talented man and I do enjoy listening to him play tremendously, and every time I hear him play a solo I become an even more entrenched Derek Trucks fan.

I finally figured out what it was about his playing that was so different and special. I have never heard someone make a slide guitar sound like a human voice like he does. Not necessarily the notes, but the squeezing out of every note and the small pauses between runs (like a singer taking a breath) are unique and remarkable.

Mike Brannon, I'm david i love his style. Especially when he was 13yrs old Nd playing an Layla i believe, he was open for the AllmN Brothers in 1993, at the age of 13 yrs old. Incredible

I know right! I said the exact same thing. He makes me sing along with the solo . So so soulful

I’ve got a tape of him when he was 15 with his band. It was a whole gig. He was already way ahead of anybody by then in technical ability, tonal quality and solo structuring. Amazing guitar player.

Derek Trucks learned almost all his slide playing from Duane skydog Allman who died only 24 years in 71in a motorbike accident and was the best slide guitarist and Derek went back to him to develop it even more
@matteowatteo12964 жыл бұрын
You can hear so much of Duane's influence in his playing it's ridiculous. Trucks is a slide virtuoso. Maybe a better slide player than Duane. Tough to say.

Fil, the british guitarist has a thorough analysis of derek's amazing style. He also has an analysis of derek and warren haynes together. Fil is so knowledgeable and never negative. Know your statement was probably rhetorical but check both out; you won't be disappointed. Just search british guitarist derek trucks.
@Autistic_train_set4 жыл бұрын
It is probably even more difficult than you think it is. He sets up the guitar to play without the slide and uses very heavy gauge strings. Trying to play slide on that fret setup is a nightmare. He does not change guitars at all during concerts (or very rarely). Do a search for rig rundown derek trucks. He goes into it a bit.

Everything about this song and performance is right on. Call me crazy but I hear a touch of Aretha in Susan's voice. I'm so glad that Trucks is restrained on this tune, he couldn't have played it better.

I don't remember how I came accross this a few months ago, but up to that day I didn't know anything about Susan and Derek (I know that's a shame...) but as I love blues, YT found a way to show me up this amazing video. Susan's voice is perfect here and the lyrics are full of deep feelings and sorrow. Derek's solo is simply outstanding, even better than the original one on the 2011 record! The whole band is fantastic and particularly that bass line is so lovely! I look forward to see them live here in Europe!!
