Thank you so much for this! I was reviewing my memory verses, including Genesis 1:1-4, and felt deeply moved to hear what it might sound like read in Hebrew. Now, I struggle to memorize things in English, my native tongue, and I have only done some very cursory attempts at learning a bit of Hebrew. It was wonderful to just close my eyes and hear it spoken, even without really understanding. I just listened. You did such a beautiful job with this, and the visuals are incredibly helpful to follow along (when I open my eyes). Thank you for this and Shalom. I look forward to listen and learning more! 😁

Don't know. You'll have to look it up in the Talmud. I have enough on my plate just animating and translating.

Can you explain why the last day in genesis 1 transitions to genesis 2 the way it does?
@tedhildebrandt_BeL
@tedhildebrandt_BeL Жыл бұрын
The chapter division is in the wrong place. The chapter divisions were added in the 12th century AD. Often the bishop (I believe) got it right but often he missed (vid. Isa. 52-53) et al.

@tedhildebrandt_BeL No, its the same way in the Torah, the original writings. No mistakes, it most definitely means something.

Why is Adonai as translated into LORD in a caps? Was the original not written with Adonai and only Elohim?
@tedhildebrandt_BeL
@tedhildebrandt_BeL Жыл бұрын
The original was Yhwh (the tetragramaton) often transcribed into Enlgish as Yahweh. Traditionally the Jewish people wanted to avoid violating the commandment of taking the Lord's name in vain so they removed the vowels (YHWH) so it could not be pronounced. Instead they substituted in the vowels for Adonai = Lord and pronounced it Adonai. Virtually all translations translate it as LORD to indicate the original was YHWH not Adonai (Lord, master). Notice how Gen. 1-2 how Abraham pronounces it. He follows the Hebrew way of showing respect for the name of God. Elohim is generally translated "God" (sg.) There is much more but this is basically what is going on.
@hillaryryann6343

@@tedhildebrandt_BeL so the YHWH is already with the vowels removed, so what was it actually? And do to ensure my understanding, then Elohim was never the word used in the actual text, just replaced as a description of YHWY? Ty so much for the information.
@tedhildebrandt_BeL
@tedhildebrandt_BeL Жыл бұрын
As best as we know "Yahweh" is it with vowels. Elohim is the normal word translated "God" ... Gen. 1:1 In the beginning "Elohim" created (God created). Yahweh is God's personal name often related to the covenant he had with Israel (Exodus 3:14). @@hillaryryann6343
