I'm 62 and need hearing aids, thanks to this song on 8-track in the late 70's. (Plus some Van Halen thrown in). Worth it. Now my hearing aids are bluetooth enabled and I'm CRANKING Stranglehold straight into my head.

After I got back from Vietnam, I landed a job playing security at concert venues. We’d escort acts from the plane to the stage etc etc. I met a lot of groups. Ted was the only one that treated us like his equal, very cool. He talked to us. Invited us to his trailer pre show. Food. No drinking as he never drank. What a great guy. Took pics with us, autographs. Can’t say enough good things about him. 99% of the other acts I covered were complete assholes. One guy we were told don’t look at him or talk to him or he’ll get upset. People can say what they want about Nugent, but he was a very nice genuine guy

Right when I came out of the Fort Pitt Tunnel with the iconic view of the Pittsburgh skyline was where the guitar solo peaked. It was probably the best road moment I have ever had in my life, as both the view and the song married perfectly. Gott segne dich Ted. 👍🤣 0:01

"Stranglehold" is a guitar-driven track, over eight minutes long, and set the stage for Nugent's career. The guitar solo was recorded in a single take. “I used delays to create this really wild guitar duet with Ted," said producer Tom Werman. "It was like two guys were playing. I sent it off to Ted for his approval. He called me up and said, ‘I love what you did with Stranglehold, but don’t ever do that again without asking me.’”

Ted and Kiss in 87 makes me an old rocker. Saw Ted at the Michigan Palace battle of the band's early 70's. Always up against the band Cactus. Ted wore a leather loin cloth and had a bow hunter quiver on his back. Saw Kiss first time Detroit about 1974ish, played with another unknown act by the name of Aerosmith, both opening acts for headliner White Witch, the religious response to Black Sabbath. Tickets were 99 cents, because it was sponsored by 99fm WABX. Michigan Palace did not fill the room that night. First time Kiss in Detroit, first time Aerosmith. Jeez, where did white Witch go. Answer, nowhere. Rocknroll never forgets. Thanks for that line Bob Seger, another D treasure.
