Hey man, I really appreciate this video, I could relate to this on so many levels... this week I'm getting my first car, which has been my dream car as long as I've been into cars, an e46 330i manual. I know it sounds funny but it's really surreal for me to drive something like that, which for me so far existed only in youtube videos, forums and in the sim rig. What I really find wholesome is the excitement of other people about it, and the shared love for cars in general in the car community!

I had no idea that you were into aviation as well, its crazy how far this community goes. I starting flying at 12 when I joined an aviation camp, starting my lessons at 15. Whats crazy is my story is so similar to yours. I soloed before I could drive a car by myself as well, still have my shirt hanging in my room. Finished up my license with 50 hours in the logbook and two months past 17. Currently working on my commercial! I hate you hear you never finished, but I understand. I can't tell you how nervous I was about some of the solo XC's I had to do. I hope one day you''ll find yourself back in the cockpit.

It is absolutely CRAZY how many parallels there are to draw between my own life and these awesome flight stories. I flew my first plane, a C152, at 11. I needed the pillows too! I was the weird no-sports-but-instead-flying-and-cars kid! I, too, left it behind me. I aged out of the summer camp that I started flying at, I lost my logbook, I started driving... never got to the point where I was ready to solo. With the Sport Pilot and Light Sport/Experimental planes becoming more and more popular, I hope that you, and I, and other like-minded people can aim for the sky with less overhead someday soon! We really should start a club. There must be more former no-sports-but-instead-flying-and-cars kids.

I was, and still kind of am, the same way. I was not popular in high school and had very few friends. However, I love cars and more importantly aviation. I loved planes ever since I could remember, using various flight simulators since I was 8 years old. I still remember getting introduced to a real flight sim, FSX on disc. Loved it ever since. I joined the civil air patrol cadet program, flew in a Cessna 182 for the first time, and I was hooked. Fast forward a bit and now I'm an aeronautical engineering student. It didnt take much to decide aviation is what I want to do for the rest of my life. Looking to get my PPL after college!

That was very interesting. I've always envied those who've been fortunate enough to say they solo'ed before they got their licence. Like that's so bad-ass, so few people could say they've flown a plane - fewer still that can say they solo'ed before they could drive. You should look into flying again, I feel like it's probably a bug that you haven't quite lost yet.

I’ve never flown a plane, but I think I understand the ‘getting the fear’ part. I used to love going climbing at holiday parks on summer holidays & for a long time nothing phased me. Then one year I just didn’t have the confidence to throw myself at it anymore. Don’t know if that was becoming aware of the potential of an accident (though it was still pretty safe really) or if I just wasn’t as confident in my ability to haul my own weight but it was definitely a less fulfilling experience as a result.

I've been watching your videos for a few years now and absolutely love them. This one in particular made me think I've found a brother from another mother! 😂 The pic to the left is me at age 11 after I completed my introductory flight in a Cessna 152 as well. Same trainer my dad learned to fly in six years earlier. Years later, after college and starting a career, I got back into flying and obtained my private pilot SEL; completing my training in that same 152. I moved up to renting 172s, flying a friend's '77 172XP (210hp HP version - total hot rod), Piper Arrow (not a fan) and then came the opportunity for my aviation holy grail - flying my dad's '79 T210N... Five of the most glorious hours of my flying career, without question. After paying that insurance bill and the hourly run rate for the T210, I decided cars were much more of an obtainable, useful and safe hobby and put my logbook on the shelf. It's been 15 years since my last flight, but like you, I could talk about flying (and cool cars) for hours... Keep the great videos coming and thanks for sharing those stories!
