Omg I love this. He's pointing out fundamental problems that come from an uneconomical governance embedded in both the government and the governed. Plus, he suggests logical, doable and commonsensical solutions to these problems. The only thing that holds us from Zeitgeist's reality is thinking it isn't possible and the lack of global consensus. I'm in for this, I'll work to make this real

Peter Joseph has "solutions" that are identical to what we would be forced to do if we do nothing and let things fall apart! At a NYC presentation Peter Joseph was challenged and promised to address the question after the lecture but fled the building instead! Peter Joseph is a COWARD and a con artist! As the leader of the movement he thinks it reasonable to fly when lesser people would not be good enough. He has publicly stated that engaging in such discussions is counter productive = he knows he has no logical defense and doesn't want the flaws of his cult mentality exposed!

Jerry Rice Hi Jerry -- We make enough food to feed everyone and then some. We make more than enough clothes and have enough housing for everyone. We also have enough water as well as the technology to make potable water in parts of the world where there is scarcity due to droughts. So, by those metrics, we are not yet overpopulated. If we could adopt more green technology so we could avoid unnecessary waste and actually focus on recycling wherever we can already do it (as well as get rid of designed/planned obsolescence) we'd be able to do a lot better. It is also important to understand that the need to maintain cyclical consumerism in the current economy is a huge waste of resources and a distorted and unhealthy use of technological efficiency. Now that's not to say that we don't have to worry about over-population at all... but--at this point--it is way more important to dispel the myth of scarcity by making people aware of what our current level of abundance actually is (as I stated above) so they understand that it's purely a failing of the monetary system and not a technical inability that makes it so many people can't get their needs met. Getting people to understand that war is the biggest waste of planetary resources is also important; we need to cease the whole system of monetary exchange so there's no longer an impetus to exploit other people and their land for monetary gain. Additionally, as people have more access to educational materials (through smartphone technology and access to the internet) we will start to see birthrates stagnate or even decline; this is already a trend in more developed, educated parts of the world where there is access to effective birth control.

+Matthew Taylor Hey there, there's no need to swear at me; that's uncalled for. I think it's important to note that I was not talking about "economic" scarcity, but about the true status of resources and our ability as a race to produce the necessities of life for people irrespective of economics, money or any traditional system. I am speaking about taking away all the fantasy and game play of capitalism and the monetary system of exchange so as to just focus on practical, technical measures and objectives. As an example: We technically have the ability to feed everyone on the planet, the last figure I read was that we produce over 2000 calories per person per day. So much goes to waste... so many people don't have access due to monetary issues.... it doesn't have to be this way. Our current system is wasteful and inefficient on several levels. Additionally, I think it's important to acknowledge that critical thinking is only part of it; another important aspect is having access to relevant information to be able to do the thinking about. It seems we're coming from very different places in that regard. So, I had actually replied to this several days ago, but now I don't see my post anymore. I had included links to articles, websites, etc and had tried to include all the pertinent information you requested. I guess someone from the site took it down ? I will try posting the links again and see what happens.

+Matthew Taylor Both of these are discussed in TZM's "Orientation Guide", which is free to read on the official website and they back up a lot of the points they discuss. Briefly, though: 1. It's actually not a big claim. If we focus JUST on getting people what they need and not just producing and producing just to fill up stores so that they are well-stocked, then there will be much less waste, hence much less resources used overall. Right now we over-produce in a lot of areas and what doesn't get used goes into landfills. There are people starving all the while food goes to waste every day because that's business as usual and a lot of people can't pay so it goes in the trash. We also don't recycle enough at all. If we would implement recycling of items wherever we could, they could go back into making products instead of being thrown out and wasted. Also, it should be well-known by now (at least it is in the tech' world and those circles) that as computer processing continues to get more powerful, less energy and less resources are necessary to get a good result. As an example: Computers from decades ago sucked up energy and were huge and very inefficient as far as how they ran and what could be done with them. Now we have much greater computational power, but it all resides in a small device (like a Smartphone or tablet). This trend of using less over time as things get more efficient can also be seen in areas of production and the service industry. I believe R. Buckminster Fuller referred to this trend as "ephemeralization"; you may want to look it up. 2. We forgo currency altogether. There would be no barter or exchange. People would be given what they need. There are electronic systems and computer algorithms that are already in place that can track resource use in any given area. We already can see what people want and use by their grocery shopping habits being tracked. There is no need to use any system of exchange anymore. If food is produced FOR the people who need it in the area where it is needed and not produced just to fill the shelves and make a store look good and well-stocked, then that will be a lot more efficient and create a lot less waste. We have the systems to make this a reality NOW, they are just being utilized for different ends.

Thank you Peter, for not giving up! "What will you do?" In my case, it's all about spreading this idea to as many people as possible. I do this by making simple statements, such as "If voting made any difference, it would be illegal" - or by asking simple, but unusual questions that (hopefully) makes people think before they answer, such as "do you know any politicians who has a technical education?". I plant little seeds of thought whenever possible. Sometimes they sprout.

I feel what Joseph overlooks in the values wars is that many people derive their value by what they create and to many it revolves around money. How to get people to seprate themselves from such associations. In general I feel where Joseph can use help is in getting people to start to see how many emotions of self value and self love are intertwined with a monetary based system. He can move peoples logic but he needs someone to move their hearts.

Well.. the next levels of entertainment, will be so advanced and eventually cheap, people would rather live in a Matrix like simulation! Connect to ultra data centers and self learning ai’s, uber simulations and fantasie’s can all be experienced. Real world will seem boring compared to that. Tech companies will inevitably grow so big and influential they’d start to take over governments, not intentionally but because the people want the tech and the companie’s want the people to connect and share to perfection the algorythms and what not. I’ll happily trade all i have and privacy for that. Just give me a bed and food and im good haha. Ofcourse i’d still want to go outside and be a normal functioning human being too. An simulation device could make us learn anything really fast. Elon Musk’s Neuralink is on its way too. The future is Bright!

To place a new system is not to enforce laws, it is first to agree peacefully in a democratic way and change the procedures. You have to understand that money and property can only exist due to the underlying system which is organism to organize, structurize and achieve goals. Money and property are infact what needs to be enforced to exist, throuth intimidation, oppression, slavery, violence and than war. Money is an overburden of a system that cannot exist but only through criminal means and is not needed, property is illegal we all know that as it creates seperation and duality = war. So I do not believe that we will need to enforce anything, but agree together that criminality in any kind of way must and cannot be tolerated. This system must stop immediately, period! We will free the world from oppression meaning property, no property will be recognized nor tolerated anymore, everybody will have what he needs and wants and nobody will need what the other one has as you will have what you need fully home, food, accessibility, technology, and much much more, all diseases will be cured, will solve people with hancicaps and help them enjoy life, the blind will see, the deaf will hear, the mute will hear, you can name it, w will truly come together to achieve goals. What do we do with criminals? The law is the law, nobody is above the law, and the law is righteous, vaillant and blind, those who will rather follow criminal ways will be dealt with they will have a fair trial, be judged and punished accordingly, through a judge system that we will deem worthy and agree upon democratically. All of us that know right from wrong know that money and property is wrong. So time to stop what is wrong and do what is right!

Like a scrotum, here it is in a nutshell. Watch it, share it, and explore it from top to bottom. Don't worry, it won't hurt you. But it will change you. In the best way you could ever imagine. The world I live in today is so vastly different from what it was before Joseph, Fresco, or Gamble. But it's a world that is so much closer to reality. Because while there is only ONE reality that we all must share, we can live in all kinds of different worlds. The world presented in this, an other similar presentations, is the world I always knew I wanted to live in, but didn't know how to get there. We can't change our outsides until we change our insides (mind). Then we, small in numbers, but growing, can make anything happen. "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed people can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." -- Margaret Mead, anthropologist

In comparison: we need scientists, not corrupt politicians or ideologies to confront the new paradigm we face. Technological evolution can help us to free from the actual slavery. We should not fear this. The risk is how the 'establishment' utilizes those advancements, but not technology itself.

I remember when zeitgeist first came out in 2007. At first I dismissed it. Then later I watched a few videos alleging that it was "debunked" and "refuted". Naturally I just assumed that I guess it was debunked. Recently I re-watched the film. Honestly, I think that the majority of it true. There's some details which are questionable that people quibble over. But really, it's a solid film.

a lot of his arguments are against the current system of corporatism (crapitalism) in which the government is in bed with businesses. Thus, the problem is not free market exchanges, but rather the idea of a 'government' that has a monopoly on the initiation of force that can borrow money and never produce anything useful. I contend that, with current technological innovations we can move to a more distributed, less coerced system of voluntary exchange (free market) in which problems of scarcity of resources can be solved by the invisible hand we have seen work in the past (and currently) at the same time leveraging personal property rights to incentivize proper use of the earth. All the while, the advances in communication via the internet and mobile apps will enable the privatization of all functions currently done by the government at a fraction of the cost and without the market interventions that are so incredibly destructive and that produce a huge misallocation of resources

It seems to me that "monetaryism" of any form cannot work, at all if it's based on scarcity, competition or assumptions like the "invisible hand" or superstitions like "free will". Doesn't matter if it's government is small, large or whatever. You're gonna have the same problems.

I guess I understand why the Earth Economic System sounds like trouble even though it only promises a better living. In fact the question that everybody wants to ask but doesn't know how is: "What is the cost of this new economy?" In another word "How will it be imposed to mankind.". The trouble in the earth system is that it sounds like we have to trust each other and be compliant. But we all know that mankind is not a compliant being. We are more driven to do things our way even when the wisest of us show us the way. Only a very few follows the way by letter. So in a world like this an earth system like this is like asking everybody to become angels and if that is not possible we directly think about Marxism there will be a group of people that will control who gets what... Even though money shows only bad, people see freedom in money. You can still be free someway from the herd with money. That is at least the feeling it gives you. But the reality is mankind needs something that guarantees that freedom. Money gives the freedom to men to be bad, or to be good. If you have such a system and we need a group of people to decide for the mass if the core is bad everything will go bad. With money or capitalism you can always free yourself. How will we value stuff. It is for many unthinkable to give something for nothing. Now to Peter Joseph you have to be able to answer those questions how is such an economy sustainable with the current philosophy of mankind, how will the earth system work. You stated what will go better but how will you make it possible? However you want to dodge it is a political question. How will you convince people to work and trust that what they do will reward them accordingly? How do you propose to do that without money? What kind of life is it? We are not talking about only a country, a city or an island. We are talking about the world. If you can answer than you will answer the core question that will motivate the world to change. I believe that is the question that we need to answer to the people who do not understand or are confused about the system we propose.

So you would prefer constant and continual war, in which human-kind murders one another until we run out of easily recoverable oil? Your biggest logical fallacy is that you have presupposed that money is real. However, "money" is fake(in a fiat currency system which is what we have globally). If you do not understand this then you really don't understand how you are being controlled through currency. Money is not a source of freedom because you can't create it and from your statement I can deduce that you don't understand who creates the money you think gives you freedom. Privately owned "central banks" create money out of thin air in a fiat currency system and has no physical backing. If you are an American you should read "The Creature from Jekyll Island : A Second Look at the Federal Reserve [G. Edward Griffin]" because you clearly do not understand why money actually makes you a slave to the people who create it. You also don't understand that we live on a planet with finite resources and our current system does NOT take this huge fact into account. So regardless of what system you prefer the current global system is going to collapse regardless of whether you or I like it or not. That is just science because infinite growth on a finite plant it impossible.
@3DVizzion
@3DVizzion 10 жыл бұрын
astud10101 I guess you do not understand the logic. And I guess you do not know wich system I prefer. You would be even surprised if I tell you this. I am the one who talk to Peter about the criminal money system and that if we are to defeat the unknown enemy we must first start by eliminating its power and that is money. Now my comment is that for many "a resource base system" seems impossible. Why? Because simply they are slaves to money, it is just like trying to bring an addict to rehab. People worldwide trust money because money is "the contract". Without the contract people have to just trust each other and not many men is willing to trust each other. So how will this system be imposed, how will it be secured and most importantly how will it work (without having to buy), how will those who work hard be rewarded and those who don't be supported? And there are actually many other questions that can arise that need answer. And money is not fake, it is a contract between two parties which adds the value of trust. How will we do without money just hand over stuff and hope that you will get your fair share. And actually there wont be less war with or without money, mankind might even have more wars without money, just think about it for a second... A world without a contract. Many wars are based on gaining resources not for the sake of money, but for the sake of supporting your country and than most certainly money will than roll on (distribution without money.) Trading makes it easier for two parties to exchange resources without it how can two parties from different countries exchange goods? Money makes trust easier. So the question that Peter should focus on answering is how will we trust the resource base economy without money? If he can answer this than we can start changing the world. Bu if this stays unanswered than we missed the point.

Tom Bijl I agree with everything you have said. I started a TZM chapter and it was a disaster, people brought their own values and ideas along, especially religious and violent. I constantly think about this dilemma and the answer is an easy one but the solution is not - education that overcomes religious teaching and culture. As religion shows itself to be less credible and ever divisive the window will become wider to look to the answer if viewed in competitive eyes. We need to to embrace reality and narrow the gap - we really are in this together. Dogma needs to be replaced by invention through understanding - technology by science, for human furtherment. Give me 1 year of all media space and I could change the world for the better, you could too.

mrjonno When you attack the common sense of such people be sure to be prepared for retaliation and some times even fatal. Their beliefs is what makes them keep going. It is like telling them you live a lie their automatic response would be "you live a lie yourself". So the best thing to do is keep it neutral, it isn't about religion nor beliefs, it is about economy. Is our system economic? No! It is even worst the opposite, so if the system is doomed to fail we need to change old ways maybe even older. It is like you start a project but from the start you did it wrong, you see it but you are too lazy to change it. So you try to make it work by adding more and more lies to it but you can see that it can collapse anytime. The whole integrity of this system is in fact useless from the start, a bad idea that comes from greedy minds at the time when people were killing each other for property. Now amazingly this pile is still holding, but the piling up keeps getting worst. And most certainly men will believe that this system will stand forever but facts shows otherwise with a never ending war and crime that only keeps rising. Strike them with neutral logic, it will open their eyes.
@mrjonno
@mrjonno 10 жыл бұрын
Tom Bijl Thank you for confirming the reality. Challenging the 'lie' is the only way to break the evil. What do you mean by 'neutral logic'? Science has been this for centuries and doing the battle against irrationality for hundreds of years. I suspect we agree but through different terminology which is a human problem in itself.

that's the real question to ask. to answer it we must go deeper. if all thought and mind and sense of self (ego) are inextricably to an over arching systemology- a story, an archetype- then we must see that we are servants of a story. and then begin to understand ourselves and our world in that context. ask all questions from that position, as a starting point. like characters, as plot, as completed moive, as already authored book. it challenges us to question the nature of "free will" and

I honestly don't see what's so extraordinary about it. If you and I are at odds with one another, and constantly fight one another, we bleed out. If we help one another, we get a whole lot further. If we fight our environment, ignore the laws of nature necessary for our survival, we suffer. If we pay attention and act accordingly, things work out a lot better. Survival of the most adaptable. It's written in nature, which scientific law is based solely upon.

And this is exactly what Peter Joseph addresses at the end in regards to the "value war". The reason for people to accept economical equality is because it's ultimately better for everyone. Presently not everyone's values are in line with this as your words clearly demonstrate, but our values will have to align with equality if humanity hopes to survive and prosper. The real question is, why is it assumed that equality is NOT a possibility? What is the causality of the "eff you" response?

All good points, I've given a thumbs-up because I believe these are real issues that humanity faces. If only TZM was in reality what Peter Joseph argues - it can't be because there is no transition plan that the movement has and conversely it seems to be a mess with argument and disagreement with other parties using their voices too. TZM is not alone in identifying the issues that face the planet - PJ is the student of Jacques Fresco who in turn is to Buckminster-Fuller. How to transition???

@Wiktor Magistralis "its only appealing to lazy people.” - I don't consider myself lazy (I have a master's degree, work full time and part time, never took gov't assistance, pay full taxes, own very little property and prefer to give to others) and I find a lot of worthwhile ideas within organizations like the Zeitgeist Movement and the Venus Project. "Alot of talking and no actual action." - Well, what are your expectations for "actual action"? TZM is constantly working on several projects, from hosting conferences and talks around the world, to publishing media and resources online, to even Peter's new film trilogy seriously starting to come out soon. If you have suggestions of your own for peacefully and effectively educating the masses on NLRBE or similar ideas to help the world, then we'd like to hear them. By the way, Jacque Fresco (the founder of TVP) explicitly does not believe in utopia because there is no such thing as a "perfect" society. Humanity and civilizations have always evolved and adapted over the course of time, and the big question now is how to create a system and method of taking care of the earth and everyone on it. These ideas are certainly not perfect, but I think they are worth _trying,_ and if it weren't for our current monetary system based on exploitation and cost-efficiency over human well-being, we wouldn't be in the mess we are in now.

1. Every major positive change in history, from MLK's civil rights triumph, to Ghandi's struggles in India, to Manedla's defeat of Apartheid, were once just the passionate ideas of an isolated few, who continued speaking out despite those around them claiming they were "wasting our time". Ideas->discussion->awareness->concern->debate->demands->protest->action->struggle->conflict->change. These cyclical steps each broaden the previous step in our collective conscious, building into the next step.

Metal is what is known as a conductor. Cables can run from, for example, Iceland to the nearest National Grid on the north coast of Scotland. Floating cables are simple enough to produce, and would remove the need for any sort of infrastructure. Mauna Loa to California would be a little further, but equally possible. Hydrocarbon-based power stations have low outputs, this is why there are so many. If the power station is built where the source of energy is located, infrastructure is unnecessary.
