Neoliberalism is just laissez-faire economics with a catch. Under neoliberalism the government power is used to support and advance business over people. We've been posed on for 40 years.
@qwertyuiop-tk9rr3 жыл бұрын
Basically it's even worse than laissez-faire liberalism because the state's power is fully mobilized to oppress the working class and enslave the population in the interests of private financial and business institutions. Corporations can get away with anything because the lender of last resort will ensure they never fail despite irresponsible behaviour and poor financial management.

So put non-business advisers on boards, reduce economic volatility, and intertwine government and business. This is just progressive corporatism. It’s only end will be preserving the oligarchy by intertwining it with bureaucracy.
@usnbostx22 жыл бұрын
They are conflating “neoliberalism” with the free market, when in fact we’re suffering from corporatism and the effects of central banking. It’s funny he described how the rising tide has in fact lifted all ships at the beginning, and then later described it as an emperor with no clothes.

Remember when the world bank admitted poverty was increasing but then by a magical twist of the wrist they said poverty was decreasing.

Perhaps because it is a reality Ian. Don¨t you belive in science?
@Iandar13 жыл бұрын
@@JTSeneca well the $1.90 (I believe) as the international poverty line is arbitrary, most if not all poverty decreases have been in the People’s Republic of China and they did the same exact thing the USSR did between Lenin’s death and their entrance into WW2 in the 1938 or 1939 but then handed things to the private sector much like the US has done with all the innovations the state has done in the last 100 years. It is true that the proportion of people in poverty has decreased but to eliminate poverty will take 200 years but the economy must reach 173 times its size right now (which we have no reason to believe) and no recessions happen (seeing not only we going through one now they happen every 4-7 years on average).

It’s even worse than pure free market economics. They get to do whatever they want, and rewarded generously by the state.

@@gking407 You're right, but lets say, they make things a tiny bit better(like reducing carbon emissions a bit aswell as cleaning up just enough to get a bit more time so to speak) - basically, making enough change for people to not be allowed to complain, yet little enough for the issue to still exist...

The more I listen to such a good talks, the more I believe that a life on earth without a belief in the After-Life, as per religious meaning, is just another a failure orthodoxy. The missing meaning he was talking about can't come from a life without a holy existence that must be started from the God and will return to the God.
